Ya know what . . . as far as the reviews from some "reviewers" . . . I could give a crap less. I never paid attention to them before and honestly
never knew they existed until I became a fan and the fanwars used them against each other. So, really, who gives a shit. Either people are going to buy it or
they aren't. I bought it and I love it . . . all that matters.
80-85K huh . . . well, the only show he's been on to promote it is GMA this morning with a half a song and that's was it. Maybe he needs to hire Phil Stacey's promotion peeps.  He was
everywhere and still only sold what 14k or less. CD sales are down. I was surprised at Ashlee Simpleson's numbers and Madonna's are lower than I
thought. Oh well. Times are tough.

I really think it is an "I'm too cool to like a Clay Aiken CD" attitude with some of these reviewers. The songs are perfect popfection IMO...
more radio friendly than anything he had on MOAM that's for sure! Fuck, he's not trying to be Justin Timberlake or Chris Brown so I'm not sure
what they expect him to do. His voice is very well suited for the songs on this album and he sings them with conviction and real emotion...he doesn't
oversing or glory note the fuck out of them for effect... the connection is in the lyrics and Clay's deliver of those lyrics IMO...
I sound like a fantard but honestly it irks me to see this album get shit on just because it's Clay's.... which is what I think is happening to an extent. |

That's exactly what's happening, ILGE. And it cracks me up when critics who don't even LIKE pop music critique it.
Oh, well, they are giving Neil Diamond and Celine and other pop legends bad reviews, too, so he's in good company, I guess. I couldn't care less what they say either, and don't really think it will impact sales since hopefully most people are smart enough to know what they like and not be influenced, but there's just a tiny little worry-wart part of me that thinks he'll never get the recognition he deserves for anything. Every time a Broadway World thread was started about him or Spamalot, the haters descended in hoardes to discredit him and it was just so ugly. Just a bit disheartening at times. |

I've visited the cb and there appears to be quite a bit of angst and an overall feeling of gloom over the predicted sales for the first week. I said this
on the KCE and I'll say it here that I really wish Clay and his fans the best of luck. I know that there has been animosity in the past between the fan
bases but I hope bygones can be bygones and I just hope for the best for Clay and his fans. Good luck y'all. For real.

Overzealous fans can be hurtful as they can turn people off in their drive to promote their favorites. I applaud Clay for being honest and trying to educate
his fans about the right way to go about promoting him. I enjoyed Clay's CD on AOL First Listen. He has a golden voice and this album highlights it
nicely.

That's why I rarely go to the "big 3" or the official fan club. It all just wears me out. I just want to enjoy my fandom and his
glorious voice and yes, his success, without listening to all the angsting and belly aching because he's not MORE successful . Not that I don't want
that for him, too, of course, but some of the conspiracy theories wear me out. I think Clay has stated in the past, and I tend to agree, that he's had a
lot of success and would like it to continue, but not everyone is going to like you and you can't make them. Since it appears to me that most radio
dj's use him for a punching bag, I don't expect much radio play. By the same token, I choose to never listen to radio anymore. But then, I think
it's a dying medium anyway, what with ipods and the internet and downloading and all of that. I'd rather listen to hours of straight music of my
choice than asshat dj's lame jokes, commercials, and lots of music I don't even like.
At any rate, I'm so thankful for the Spamalot opportunity as Clay proved that he can stand up to the rigors of an 8-shows per week schedule, has good comedic instincts and timing, and can act, besides that 'golden larynx' of his. Plus he's an interesting and charming interview, so hopefully he'll have plenty of opportunites for a long time to come.
