I'm not studying the field, but lots of my friends are and I love the stuff they're doing. Very independent and interesting, if you're straying out of a mainstream way to create films, of course. After all, college isn't about what you're good at, it's wholly about what you put huge interest in, and clearly you have a fondness for this field. So why not? No comments for the race, as I have done already. But I have a question for you: is the elimination order pre-determined? Or are you going to play it by ear and see which teams are well-liked, so you force them to stick around and kick out those who aren't?

I'm writing leg 6 now (I'm still wondering if there are rickshaws in Vietnam though. Hahaha). And I actually play while doing the race. I use playing cards and then I pick cards to determine the order of the teams the next leg. When the order of the teams are already determined, I now think of how the elimination order would be put to the fanfic in a realistic way. Hahahaha!! (I have my personal favorite and it was heartbreaking for me to eliminate them because of the cards. Hahaha. And also, the next legs have unbelievable finishes but it's all because of the cards. I tried my very best to make it believable though. So basically, I won't change the outcome of the fanfic based on the most-liked) Yeah, I love films but I'm still not sure if I would take film-making course though. I think there are more readers than posters so don't get discouraged. If you want a change from using cards, you might check with some of the online TAR game hosts concerning how they use random number generating programs to determine outcomes. You may also want to revisit the idea of the predetermined outcomes or not work so far ahead. A bad random draw might leave you with no fan favorite teams left. Of course that sometimes happens on the real shows, too.

It's really good, I think. The teams are (mostly) developed, but considering it's TAR, at least one team is bound to be INV (in this case Uma/Cass). I also think it's good you're being objective about things wrt the cards, though I think that leaving the elimination order fluid could give you greater liberty in crafting storylines. I'm looking forward to the next leg.

I'm writing my own TAR fanfic and i did something similar (I already have all the placings for every leg complete, everything just needs to be written)- what i did was draw names out of a box for each leg. It definitely made things interesting...and a bit of a challenge.

As I've said, I won't change the result to make it realistic. I'm trying to give all teams fair "airtime" to make them likable for some. Hahaha And no, I still don't know who the winners yet. Hahahaha... Leg 2 will be posted this Thursday at 12 noon Phil/HK time. I don't know how to convert the time to different time zones. Hahaha I will make it once a week at the same time and day just like the real TAR and TARA.

Allan: A DETOUR is a choice between two tasks, each with its pro's and con's. In this DETOUR, teams have to choose between two local activities related to the common meal of Cebuano people. The choice: RICE or DISH. In RICE, teams make their way on foot to Cebu Park. Once here, both team members must winnow 3 kilos of grains to remove the chaff. Once properly done, the folk lady will hand them their next clue. This task needs a lot of patience because if they waste a lot of grains, they would be ask to do the task all over again. And teams without it, may find themselves wasting a lot of time. In DISH, teams make their way on foot to Carbon Wet Market and search for the marked stall. Once here, both team members use a small knife or their bare hands to each debone a total of 10 danggit, a fish that Cebu is popular for. Once all the 20 fishes are properly deboned, the stall owner will hand them their next clue. The bone structure must still be in its form so this task needs gentle hands and a lot of concentration. And teams who have it, may find themselves on the lead. Jason: I think we should go for RICE. I know how to winnow. I'm actually good at it. [conf] Jason: My grandparents live in a province and I got to visit them once in a while when I was younger. They do winnowing and I also got to try it. Driver: Thank you so much! Teams can use the power of the U-TURN by slowing a team behind them forcing them to complete the other side of the detour they did not previously completed. Allan: A ROADBLOCK is a task that only one person may perform. In this roadblock, that person must use a musical instrument that Cebu is famous about… the guitar. Team members must adjust 4 guitars to its proper pitches. Once the shop owner is satisfied with the pitches, he would give the teams their next clue. Jason: Who has musical hands? Looks at James James: Don't look at me like that. You said you'd talk over this leg so you do the roadblock. Jason: This has obviously something to do with guitars. You know how much I suck on guitar! [conf] Jason: I am like traumatized with guitars. There was this one time in high school that we were tasked to do a guitar recital. The song that I chose was "Leaving on a Jet Plane", which has only 2 keys or notes or whatever is the right term for that. But still, I suck big time and everyone laughed at me. It was horrible.
