Timmy, Starbuck was flying with Apollo and she flew into a nebula because she was sort of zen-crazy. It looked like her ship exploded, so she was presumed
dead. She resurfaced two months later, thinking she had been gone for six hours and claiming to have been to earth. She had photos, but her viper appeared in
mint condition (ie not the one she left in) with no navigation readings. She was in the brig for a while, hearing music in her head, but it went away the more
they jumped away from where she came back. Adama had faith in her and gave her the Demetrius and told her to go find earth, despite Roslin wanting to continue
on her own path to earth. BSG in a nutshell, I suppose. You really should watch What the Frak is Going On??, either on youtube or scifi.com. Scifi also has
four or five episodes available for online viewing at any given time, so you can catch up on this season, at least.

I did watch the "What the Frak?" video, but I guess I'm still thinking WTF with this stuff! I'll watch that again and watch some of the
episodes on scifi.com I guess. I didn't know it would be so hard to get into this kind of show!

I'd join Netflix for a free trial month and rent them in sequence. There's a lot of backstory going on.

This episode was a gratuitous exercise in lesbionics that worked on so many levels.

Only her Emmy reel. That was a stellar performance by MM. Her teary breakdown/story about her mother was fraktastic. I loved all of it.
Fantastic ep. Probably my fave of the season. How many people re-watched that Hybrid scene when she laid out everything about the dying leader, missing 3, the five and 13th. I was pleased to have deduced it before the characters did |

I for one think this would be really awesome if this happened. It would redeem the Cylons.

This episode was awesome! I knew already when that Barolay chick went with Starbuck and co. that she was gonna die, but other than that, this episode was
great! They've finally got something to go on to get to Earth, and I can bet there's gonna be some Cylon-hunting to find the other five.

The end result of Roslin's story tonight appears to be that she's actually considering Baltar's preachings to hold some truth and if she believes,
there's a good chance Adama will believe. Thats what I got out of it (in terms of the overall plot) anyway

So three of the Cylons are supposed to be from Earth (which supposedly explains why three of them hear Bob Dylan, but not the fourth)? Are the Cylons actually
a half-breed of Colonial toasters and Earth toasters? It might explain the influence of monotheism on Six and the other Cylons who have joined her.
The scene where Gina kills the throw-away human and is executed held little value, story-wise. Yeah, we know the Cylons feel. Whatever. Has the origin of the hybrids been revealed on this show? I don't recall. Their oracle-like qualities suggest that time is a dimension they can freely move through - which might explain Starbuck's loss of time (and confirm she was captured by the Cylons). Hell - maybe Starbuck is a half-breed Cylon herself.

blockhose wrote: No I think you're misinterpreting what the hybrid said. She said The Missing Three will find the five, who've come from the thirteenth. the
missing three is Three aka Deanna, the boxed Cylon. The "who've come from the thirteenth" means the final five came from earth. As far as we
know all four of the known final-five heard the music.
Also the Six that killed Barolay wasnt Gina. Gina's dead. She was just a Six. And I disagree completely that the story holds little value. The point
of that Six lashing out and then basically accepting her own death was (I think) to emphasize that even though the cylons can resurrect, it doesnt mean they
can't be deeply affected by the circumstances surrounding their death. This Six never got over what Barolay did to her and seeing Barolay's inhuman
(for lack of a better word) display of non-remorse pushed her over the edge. I think it showed that the humans can and have had as much of a negative
emotional impact on the Cylons as the Cylons have had on them. That's hardly a throw-away realization. Add that to the fact that the Six accepted her
death willingly (as Gina did) and Natalie was the one to pull the trigger, which shows that the Cylons recognize the finality of death (without a resurrection
ship nearby) but sometimes its a merciful option rather than having to live on, suffering from the emotional after effects of what was obviously an extremely
traumatizing near death experience. In the case of both Gina and this Six, actual death was a welcome
alternative to living on with the emotion after-effects of what was done to them (by humans).
ETA: As for my theory: Kara witnessed that scene, as did Anders. I suspect that they will both take that with them and it will most likely alter their
perception of Cylons. Seeing as its important for both of them (Anders being a Cylon and Kara who will inevitably find out what Anders is, I'm guessing)
to be able to see, understand and connect with the humanity in the Cylons, I think this scene could turn out to be a crucial moment for both of them in
understanding the Cylon race (and thus, affecting their choices with regards to have to deal with them in the future).

Very well said Moviegirl. That's how I saw it as well. It was sad and touching to see that Six so bothered and haunted by her own previous death. She was
like a confused child, not understanding why she was hurt. The upcoming Cylon/Human alliance should be outstanding.

Yeah coconut, I just added in my theory on how I think the effect of the scene will be to Anders and Kara. I also think the way Anders was with that Eight at
the end was very telling. I think he's already beginning to understand that humans and Cylons aren't so different and that will hopefully help him not
only to better accept what he is but also to realize (and really believe) that being a Cylon doesnt make him any less the Sam Anders than he was. As Kara
witnessed the incident with the Six and Eight's death as well, maybe that will help her accept Anders' cyloninity when she inevitably finds out. She
did say in the first episode that if she found out Anders was a cylon, she'd kill him. Granted that was all hypothetical but I dont think any of us really
doubted what she was saying. Hopefully the things she's seen since then and the alliance with these cylons will help her come to see the humanity in the
cylons as well.
And yeah, the alliance with the cylons is awesome. |

moviegirl11 wrote:Ah. I get it now. You may be correct about the murder scene - I guess my POV was from the viewer. It's already been established that the Cylons have emotions and remorse, etc. But showing that directly to Anders may be a pivotal point, agreed. |

moviegirl11 wrote: There's another way of interpreting the thirteenth. The hybrid may have referred to Earth which I do think is what she meant. But it is possible that the thirteenth the five came from refers to one being, i.e., a cylon that pro-created, a scientist that created them, or God that "fathered" the five. |

I thought that scene was SO sad, for some reason. I dunno why, but Tricia Helfer has always been one of the most believable actresses on the show for me, and
I thought her performance was just amazing. I really hope she gets a lot of work after this show, shes consistently proven that shes not just a pretty face.
Anyhow, that was a great episode. Loved it, finally some action and finally the story moves forward. The Roslin stuff was really powerful if you fast forwarded through it. Emmy scenes for sure. Is that bitch Athena gonna kill Natalie next week? I'm assuming not because they basically showed it in the preview, but she better not. My poor Sixes are being shot up left and right. Oh, speaking of Athena, Grace Park must have been excited that she was relevant again, and actually had something to do! Btw, how long until Lucy Lawless shows up again? She has to now, right? |
