Singer/actress Jennifer Hudson has christened "Spotlight" as the lead single off her long-awaited debut album,
which as previously reported, is due on 30th September via Arista Records.
Other tracks slotted for inclusion on the disc are "Pocketbook", "Depreciate", "Can't Stop the Rain" and the India Arie penned "Greatest Creation". The as-yet-untitled project is expected to boast the production skills of Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes (Marsha Ambrosius, Faith Evans), Stargate: Tor Erik Hermansen & Mikkel Storleer Eriksen (Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige), Timothy "Timbaland" Mosley (Beyonce, Alicia Keys), Ryan "Alias" Tedder (Leona Lewis, Robyn Janelle), Kasseem "Swizz Beatz" Dean (Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani), The Underdogs: Harvey Mason Jr. & Damon Thomas (Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton), Salaam Remi (Emily King, Jazmine Sullivan), Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins (Christina Milian, Fantasia Barrino), as well as songwriting contributions from The Clutch: Patrick "J.Que" Smith, Ezekiel Lewis, Balewa Muhammad & Candice Nelson (Amerie, Paula Campbell), Sean "The Pen" Garrett (Megan Rochell, Nicole Scherzinger), Diane Warren (Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera), and Schaffer "Ne-Yo" Smith (Teedra Moses, Heather Headley). Don't forget to check out the original motion picture soundtrack "Sex and the City" - due 27th May via New Line Records - where Hudson performed "All Dressed Up in Love". The song was produced by Jack Splash (Estelle Swaray, Solange Knowles), and Thomas "Cee-Lo" Callaway (Kelis, Tori Alamaze). |

Man I hate to say this as I love Boomie beyond all reason, but that song sucks. It sounds like so much of the other radio crap I hate, and I'm really disappointed. It doesn't utilize the beauty or strength of her voice at all. I guess it's what's popular now, but I can't even listen to it, didn't even make it through the song. I feel sorry for her having to sing such tripe. Yeah, yeah, I'm old fashioned or something. Whatever. |

I don't mind it too much, but I understand. I want to hear something a bit different. But I think you will like her song from the Sex and the City
soundtrack. It's much more pop sounding.
