since Canada gets a thread, The Aussie version deserves one too, I personally think this series is better than The U.S. and Canada's but that's just
me.

We have a thread for Australian Idol every season, a group of us watch and chat about it. Someone usually starts one when the auditions get underway.
Australian Idol is my favourite of all the Idol franchises. I hate the judges though, although I guess I should give them some credit because they pick all the amazing contestants I love so much. Why did Mark get fired? Why couldn't they get rid of Kyle, he's a vile prick. I'm looking for another Damien or Natalie. Hopefully Aussie Idol will deliver the talent again. LOL seaguy, who did you root for last season? Natalie? I'm 3 for 3 for for 3/4/5 Kate/Damien and then Nat, except I didn't watch S3 when it aired. |

And always seems to be a step above its brothers. I love how they handle their top 24. And the theme nights are almost an awesome sort of tradition. |

I didn't watch last season but I checked out lots of performances videos from the official site when I found out about Natalie. She owned, I loved all her
performances.
I love Dicko too, he's the only good judge of the 4 imo. Mark was a fucking nutbag, Kyle is a dickhead, Marcia sucks more than Paula. |

I am hot and cold with Marcia. She's coherent at least, but still annoying at times. I won't miss Mark and I hate Kyle. I have to look back at last
seasons contestants because I think the ones I liked early on didn't make it and I thought that lesbian looking guy was going to win but Nat beat him.

I usually dl the episodes but last year I only watched them on the site. It was my least favorite season but the right person won. Hopefully season 6 will be as good as season 2 & 4. And at least it won't have Archie. |

i don't really have the chance to watch any of the seasons, I always just go back and see the individual performances on youtube and every year I can
safely say that this is the best idol show.
I was unimpressed by Natalie at the beginning of last year but I've been watching her videos and damn she's awesome. I think she's what the U.S. was looking for when they decided to copy Australia's instruments rule this year. I've been listening to her studio version of "Umbrella" non-stop. And i'm still holding out for a studio version of Damien's "Crying". And I also met Guy Sebastian once, he's frakkin awesome. Weren't they supposed to pimp him in the U.S. 3 years ago? The only people I wish won were Rickie-Lee and Emily (although I don't mind Kate, I like her voice a lot) season 4 was by far the best idol season of them all, even better than, dare i say it, Canadian idol 2. I loved how everyone was really daring with their song arrangements and find it really funny that the best contestant also happened to deliver the worst performance of the series Damien Leith - "Celebration" |

Ok, just looked at the list of top 12, and I didn't like most of them. I had totally forgotten about crazy Tarisai!
Then there was the trumpet player from hell, Carly. Marty who never bathed. Daniel with his fucking scarves that I wanted to strangle him with. I did like Mark and he didn't go very far. On Wikipedia it says this about him: Mark Da Costa is a 28-year-old from Sydney, New South Wales, thus was the oldest finalist. He was advanced by the public to the Final 12 through the Wildcard show. He was eliminated on October 1, 2007, finishing in 9th place. Although already eliminated, Mark was named by Today Tonight as being involved in vote-rigging. Since leaving Idol, Mark da Costa has gone back to performing regularly, and has been on tour with his band for most of 2008.More controversies here on the Wiki page. I wasn't aware of all this shit. |

I guess this is the appropriate time to throw in a FUCK RICKI-LEE.
Screemily sucks too. Natalie is amazing. I liked her performances from the beginning but she really came into her own around Umbrella and just started owning the competition. That's one thing I can thank for the judges for, giving Natalie a chance when she just wasn't getting the votes in the semis. Has anyone purchased Damien's new album of covers Catch the Wind? It's songs from the 60s and 70s. 1. Catch the Wind (Donovan) 2. Annie's Song (John Denver) 3. Wild World (Cat Stevens) 4. If (David Gates) 5. The Times They Are a Changing (Bob Dylan) 6. Father & Son (Cat Stevens) 7. Starry Starry Night (Vincent) (Don McLean) 8. Everybody's Talking (Harry Nilsson) 9. Universal Soldier (Buffy Saint Marie) 10. Guitar Man (David Gates) 11. Baby I Love Your Way (Peter Frampton) 12. Only Love Can Break Your Heart (Neil Young) 13. Longer (Dan Fogelberg) 14. Blowing in the Wind (Bob Dylan) 15. Old Man (Neil Young) 16. And I Love You So (Don McLean) 17. Sunshine On My Shoulders (John Denver) 18. Time In a Bottle (Jim Croce) You can here clips at his site: http://www.damienleith.com.au/releases/home.do?catalogueNo=88697292882 |

Ricky Lee <3. I love that Ho!
I loved OZI5. It was my only season that I watched but I did catch a lot of the clips from previous seasons on the OS. I loved Gauci, Corby, and Riseley, awsome Top 3. Ben McKenzie was robbed and honourable mention goes to Brianna Carpenter <3. But the one who should have won last year was the guy who entered in the audition room and sang such a beautiful song. I think he was larger framed, 19 year old guy. He had a voice that just sent me to the moon and back, it was freaking amazing. AND THEY DIDN'T PUT HIM THOUGH. Stupid fuckers. He would win against both Davids on AI7 now I think. I think his name was Keith or something with a K I think. Kyle or Vyle is now hosting Big Brother Australia. I have to see his mug on every eviction show. He seems less abrasive so far this year, maybe eating constant poon from his gf is helping. |

I'm not sure, I watch a lot of Idol shows but mostly performance clips so I don't know a lot of stats like that. I have no idea if Natalie is the first
judge wildcard pick to win, she probably is.
What is that Hillsong thing all about? What do they mean vote rigging by them and their members? Like they rigged votes with the show or they just encouraged church members to vote for certain contestants? I mean I think it's wrong if they did the latter but does that constitute as rigging? Miki the Australian Idol judges are pretty superficial imo. On his first audition Damien got called an ugly bastard by one of them and they said he'd never win b/c of it. |
|||
survivorjordancontestant |

I think the Hillsong thing was started by some big deal dateline-type news segment that probably made it a bigger deal than it was. Supposedly all the chapters
of that church group heavily encouraged its members to vote for the 4 hillsong contenders.
the fights last season were kinda funny, with Holden and Dicko yelling at each other over Natalie's audition; Tarisai the fake one. The show is just gold. |

Calling Damien ugly is really dumb. Isn't it a singing comp? Ok, looks matter but he isn't even ugly. WTF. I think Damien's hot but whatvss.

I think Damien is good looking too. I mean he had messed up teeth and looked kind of plain when he started out on Australian Idol but that's no reason for
Kyle to refer to him as an ugly bastard. Kyle's such a douchebag hating on Damien and Kate for their looks, oh and let's be real, has he looked in a
mirror lately?
I just remembered he was also always hating on Natalie's fashion, he kept telling her how fat her ass looked. |

So I suppose the one he insults this year with any of the fat/ugly commentary should be our winner.
Oh and SHC, I haven't gotten that Damien CD. I have to check it out! |
