Funny how Ozzy says all the cool kids are at the Ponderosa and this episode Alexis says she is not one of the cool kids. Ozzy also says that he
doesn't know what he would do if Parvati was next out. I'd like to find out.

They dont have the earlier survivor (pre jury) coz they're sent to vacation. and it would be expensive to sent camera crew to follow them doing nothing.
With Ponderosa, they're in a sequestered area, so they could easily send a camera crew whenever they want. and if nothing happened, they could just recalled them. |

The Next Jury Member
The first stage is always anger, then disbelief. One more Survivor joins the Jury. Alexis (solo): We got on a little boat, then we like scurried off into the dark, and then they put this big cloak over you so no one sees who you are, then an hour later you have no clue where you're going, and you come to Ponderosa, and it was wonderful. (Alexis hoots as she arrives; Eliza gives her some food and a hug, then Alexis hugs the guys) These are people I had a hand in voting out. How is our relationship? Is it going to be mended? Alexis: That was a blindside! Eliza: Yeah, yeah.... Alexis (solo): I got voted out tonight by two of my closest girlfriends. Eliza (solo): I think Alexis felt pretty betrayed, because she thought she was genuinely friends with Amanda and Parvati outside the game. Ozzy (solo): Alexis is pissed off at them. Alexis (solo): Oh my God, I've never seen such a charade. I totally fell for it. Eliza (solo): I think it kind of serves her right. Alexis has a slightly warped perception of herself. Alexis (still right after she gets there): The only thing I'm stoked on is up to this point I didn't lie. Eliza: You didn't lie? Alexis: Nuh-uh. Ozzy (solo): I think Alexis is a little bit delusional at how she played this game and how she's been seen by other people. She thinks she didn't tell a lie this whole time. Eliza: But... Alexis: Anyone I gave my word to... Eliza: But y'know, lying is very...(hesitates and looks over to Jason)...I mean lying and being a bad person are not like mutually exculsive. (Alexis has food in her mouth and says something I didn't hear) Ozzy (solo): You need to get off your moral high horse. You lied and you just need to admit that to yourself cause we know you did. Eliza (solo): I feel like she holds herself up and she's got this high standard for herself and that she's done no wrong, but I think that's a load of crap. (they walk inside) Eliza: Congratulations. Jason: You're lucky. Alexis (solo): I already don't know what to do with myself. I might actually sleep all the way through the night. (they eat dinner and Alexis enjoys the food) Eliza (solo): I think we're still going to be all civil together, we're going to eat together and it's going to be fine, but now, things are different. (Alexis weighs herself and tells them she's lost 20 pounds; Ozzy and Jason tell her they sleep on the tile floor; Alexis is thrilled to see White Strips and a toothbrush) Alexis (solo): My winning was not defined by whether or not I won the million dollars, my winning was defined by the experience I had. I had one hell of an experience, so in my eyes, I won. Fashion Show You've gotta look good for Tribal Council, to rub it in that you're living in luxury! Alexis (solo): I don't know how to get past this. The fact that we have Tribal tonight, I'm so excited, but I'm so angry. Eliza (solo): Alexis might think she can get back at Amanda by kind of flirting with Ozzy. (Ozzy and Alexis sit closely together listening to music, and Alexis stares at Ozzy) Alexis (solo): Even though she totally screwed me over, it's still not in me to even want to flirt with someone she might like. Eliza (solo): Alexis and Ozzy might have some chemistry, but I think Ozzy has real feelings for Amanda, so he's probably gonna wait on her. (they sit around the table eating) Alexis: It's gonna be interesting tonight. Eliza: I know. It's huge. Jason (putting his hand near the cake): Strawberry, chocolate... Eliza: No, this is not New York style cheesecake. New York cheesecake is plain. Please, do not question me on New York cheesecake. Eliza (solo): Since Alexis has not been to Tribal Council yet, I'm going to help pick out her outfit, help her decide what to wear. Alexis (looking through a bag in her tent): Ooh, a girl's best friend, shoes. Alexis (solo): I'm excited about being girly again. Not being such a thug. (Alexis shows them various outfits which Jason says he could care less about; Ozzy decides to wear a poncho and does a twirl; Alexis finally picks a dress Ozzy says is best for her chest area and goes well with his poncho) Alexis (brushing teeth): I went 3 weeks without brushing my teeth. It is so nice. Running water. That's the crazy thing is these tiny little things like brushing your teeth changes your world. (Alexis puts the white strips in and tells Eliza their teeth are so white the other players won't recognize them) Eliza (solo): Part of being a jury member is definitely looking as good as possible to kind of rub it in the faces of people who are living in a cave and eating God knows what. Alexis (solo): I'm excited to go back and be like, "Mama looks good." (Alexis does a little "we're going to Tribal" dance, then she and the others get in the van) |

They don't seem to like Alexis much.Yet Eliza and Jason and Ozzy (and Jonathan) have been giving Alexis tonnes of kudos and love in their post-boot interviews. The power of editing. I guess Probst and/or Burnett didn't like Alexis for some reason. So the editors gave her a sucky edit, even at Ponderosa.

Don't think that EPMB isn't still capable of furiosity over leaked info, like fer instance ALEXIS' BLOG! Which was immediately taken down when we
all started discussing it here, though it was up for like two weeks...AT LEAST...
Her being left out of her Exile Island episode-ette with Ozzy, and her underediting her all the time after that...I feel it is all do to her BLOG, and now, this. There is REALLY no excuse for such negativity to a contestant once she's kicked out...."Alexis is delusional" says Ozzy...And the editing backs him up... Soooo many here were on the Alexis' first episode edit and YES, she certainly had a strong first episode. Then the Faves took over and the Fans kept losing and then even at the switch they showed the absolute MINIMUM of NuAirai. The focus all stayed on NuMalakal even though they were losing, or BECAUSE they were losing... THEN Alexis wins the Family Visit and we hardly see ANYTHING of her and Natalie's family, but we get Cerie's Jellyfish Confessional, with inspirational music, the likes of which I've never heard on Survivor before... I think Alexis' edit turned from a very decent one to absolute zero-nada because EPMB threw a hissy fit about her blog. The season is edited a few weeks ahead of when we see it, so the timing works out. He did this with Jenna M.s edit, we all remember vividly.He was so angry about Chill One's BIG spoiler that he wanted everybody to think Jenna was truly disliked, when she wasn't - back in the Amazon I mean. It looked like Matt was a hero as the season wore on, and he wasn't. They all thought he was weird and liked Jenna. I've never met her. But I've met Matt. And y'know something? HE IS WEIRD! Getting a negative edit at Ponderosa REALLY sucks. It's low. Alexis will never be seen or heard from again. It's too bad. Moral of the story- don't spill the Survivor Beans! YIKES! Talk about "the stupidest moves" and "the blunder to end all blunders"!!! Alexis is stuck with this edit for the rest of her life. Even doofus, unliked Jason has been REDEEMED IMMENSELY at Ponderosa. I always knew he had a good side SOMEwhere. Eliza likes him, Ozzy likes him.... And Jason, if you're reading this - ORANGEENA STILL LOVES YOU!!!! |

Hubby hates when I come to this board, we live on the west coast, so 9/10 times i'll know what happens before the family watches it together. When I say
hate, if he even thinks I read who wins before we watch it he throws a huge fit lol.
Since I noticed the ponderosa video's on sucks, he's been slipping over here a lil more every week. Throw in Lividmanda, and now he's checking the board daily lol. LOVE the ponderosa videos, thanks for pointing them out 'cause i seldom go to the CBS site. |

Orange, I'm pretty sure the editing is done as a series. It's unlikely they would go through and re-edit after the fact to piss off someone that
leaked their info. I agree that poor old Alexis is getting a nasty edit even at Ponderosa. I kinda thought it was all rainbows and sunshine once contestants
got booted - based on the first three. They seemed happy as pigs in mud together. Then Alexis came in and we were TOLD by Eliza, that it won't be the
same now. Chuck in Ozzy's delusional comment and dare I say OUCH! Not that I like Alexis, but that's mean! The girls been booted, give her a break.
I'm loving the Ponderosa stuff. I wish they had it for every series. Wouldn't the losers lodge in All Stars have been a fun place? |

As Survivormama, a TV editor and journalist, pointed out in Edgic Speculation, yes, the season has a over-arc, a theme, a book. But individually is how each
episode is done.
We see this by what ends up on the Insider each week, which featured A LOT of Alexis that never made the show. Or, MOST of Alexis that never made the show. People kept commenting on "But in the Insider Alexis said---" And "In the Insider Alexis did--" so they had all her bits and pieces and CHOSE to de-emphasize her in what ended up as a rather pathetic or ugly edit(See Ponderosa vids). Believe it. MB STILL carries grudges, especially when a contestant who has SIGNED A TELEPHONE BOOK's worth of contract, is breaking it by a stupid, stupid, stupid blog blunder. SEEBS found out about it, threatened her with legal action, and it was immediately taken down. AND there was nothing even remotely spoilerish in it, except that Ozzy and Amanda are still together. And, I thought, the TONE of her blog, which was SAD, REGRETFUL, meaning she didn't win, and she didn't. And she probably is going to have knee problems for all of her all. |

The thing that stands out to me about the lack of coverage of Alexis' family visit is how much time we spent with James' finger. Probst went into
labored detail about the medical removal, both in the show and in his preview. They were trying way way too hard, especially in comparison to other injuries
this season. So if I had a conspiracy theory, it would be that James did get into some food in a restricted area, and Alexis ratted him out.
My non-conspiracy theory would be that what we saw at Ponderosa was more or less accurate, in terms of various players' views about lying within the game. (Eliza's point that just because you lie in the game doesn't mean you're a bad person particularly stood out.) What we could take from that is some insight into their jury decision. I thought the fashion show provided some insight, too. Alexis' sundresses were all lovely and suitable for a dressy casual warm evening event like tribal council. However, for the most part, their styles were more appropriate for a 17-year-old girl, not a 24-year-old woman. I can see where being the only girl in a family could teach one that girlish behaviour is rewarded, but perhaps this is what gave her the idea that she could somehow ignore her contract and sweet talk MB and them. I really liked using Ponderosa to provide some more information about Micronesia, with more detail and reflection than there is time for in the game. (Although that doesn't make the machine gun challenge any more interesting or appropriate. One hopes the reward challenge next week doesn't involve one team using dynamite to seal the other team in a cave.) I hope we get to see more of that this season, and especially in Gabon. |
