I think it's important for us to see Jack in situations where he becomes vulnerable and not so sure about everything. It's the island's way of taking him down a notch so that he can ultimately heal. His pride/control issues which stem from his underlying insecurity are his "illness". The island is in the work of healing whatever is sick in people. At first I was feeling that the ep was dragging a bit and taking too much time with the Jack/Kate foofy face stuff, but by the time it wound up in the last 15 minutes I changed my mind and felt it all had it's place in setting us up for what's ahead. I really can't wait to see next week's Locke ep. Sounds like it will have to overlap some of Ben's backstory. Has anyone told y'all about the woman who played Ben's mom? Apparentlly it's Michael Emerson's wife!

My assumption is that Kate has visited Cassidy and Clementine before now and so the reveal that they knew each other previously did not happen during the time period of this episode.

When the battery in my smoke detector runs low it starts beeping every 15 seconds or so. Of course it ALWAYS seems to happen at night when the room temperature might be a bit less than during the day and the battery has a wee bit less capacity. BEEP!

I don't have anything in my memory banks for that name in regards to LOST. thanks! ALSO- Miles did seem very interested in Aaron, not Claire-- he seemed to want to get his hands on the babeeee. However, he could have had the perfect opportunity by following Claire and Christian and then just bringing Aaron back from that tree. hmmmm. I also found it weird (someone brought this up earlier--Felicia?) that Claire called Christian "dad", and didn't just immediately tell him to give her Aaron. She then apparently left with him. All very weird. I'm hoping we find out just what happened there. I'm a Jack fan, so this eppy was fine for me. I missed Jack's chest hair though. sniff sniff

Everyone knows that real men have hairy chests, so he needs to wait for it to grow back if he wants to be a real leader. What's next, a nipple ring? Oh, and Peggy, good observation about what Rose said. She is one of the few wise people on the island, and when she says something (which is not very often) we need to listen. Eko had the same quality, BTW. I thought the point she was making was that Jack didn't get sick, but rather someone or something (like the island) made him sick to keep them all from leaving. That boy needs to start listening to the clues and get his ass back to that magical hotbed of electromagnetic power, with his tow-headed nephew in tow.

Last week was incredible, no question. But best season? Season 1 and 2 were the best. Is this better then 3? Sure. Most 3 was eh, but really picked up at the end.

Darlton pisses me off sometimes with their quickness to kill off interesting characters who still have a lot to do story-wise. Still at least we'll be getting her story eventually. Grr.. Not a huge Jack fan but this was a decent story though I HATED him insisting on watching his own surgery. Why? Just to be that much more of a control freak? I'm glad Juliet and Bernard didn't indulge him too long and Jules sent Kate away and had Bernie knock him out STAT. I KNEW Charlotte understood Korean when Jin/Sun spoke it in front of her at the start. Glad Jin recognized that momentary flash of understanding on her face. Liking the freighter folk more and more (except Miles. I still find him annoying as hell. He's got Early Sawyer syndrome. All attitude and no substance. Sawyer's been a lot more interesting when he lost the chip on his shoulder. Plus, if Miles were a woman he'd be hated by 99% of people here and called a 'bitch' 8000x over. Claire disappearing was a great WTF moment. When Jack called out Kate for not being related to Aaron I thought a) what a jackass. Way to besmirch all non-bio parents there Jacky b) say it! Say "I'm his uncle!". I agree that it could go either way. Either he knows and they want to keep that reveal a secret for now or it's ironic. Either way a cool moment.

Just doesn't seem his style to make that kind of remark regarding a child. He can be narrow-minded but not so narrow-minded to believe it takes matching DNA to make one a good parent. That is why I believe he does know Aaron is his nephew. It could come off as snarky either way, but .. but.. <insert Jack defense here>. And anyway, the writers made him say it, just like they made him need to see his own surgery. He's a stubborn one. I love the man. Well ya know, the character. chidelta - I love your Jack Waxing. I also love that you never judge him too harshly and you seem to have an understanding of him, as well as other characters, without being too kiss-assy or too harsh. What I don't like is that it takes seeing shirtless Jack to think of me! lucky wench - Your avatar is OMG!!!!! If I were to tune in to this episode without ever watching the show before, I would've thought that Jack and Kate were just an ordinary happily married couple, and Aaron was their biological child. Even towards the end when they had the huge quarrel- it just made their relationship even more real- because that is what happens all the time in real life- people not being able to trust their partners/spouses enough. Something just warms my heart about this episode. Such a contrast to last week's bloodbath.

At that age, Aaron would only be drawing scribbles, not full body part monsters (and while I'm at it, he wouldn't be playing with the Millenium Falcon either). On the other hand, he probably has Walt-like gifts, so anything is possible I guess.
