Wow. Screamesha Mercado has had SIX visits to the danger zone, and yet she is still in the running. I know that that is an American Idol record, eclipsing the
five visits that Anthony Fedorov and Nikki McKibbin had. Is that also a record for the global Idol franchises? No matter what, she has made dubious reality
television history (which is an oxymoron in itself). But I have to say, while I never was on the Screamesha bandwagon, I would not be surprised if she were
able to pull off a spot in the Grand Final, perhaps win the sucker. Who knows? It could happen. Notice that in the past four weeks of Idol, Screamesha has
alternated sharing danger-zone duty with the person whose elimination on the said night was a shocker (Vegemite Sandwich and Sanjaya-Hating Bitch) and the
person whose elimination was expected (The Horse Whisperer and Rated R). If she's in the danger zone next week, I hope to high heaven that she shares it
with either Starsearchuleta or Daughtry Electric Bugaloo, and survives that week as well, while America and the studio audience collectively lose their shit.

I was comparing Syesha and Vonzell to each other, not to other contestants, but people are bringing up some very good points. Unlike Serena, I don't
actually think either is actually a fantastic singer, or even the 3rd best singer in their seasons (though Syesha has pleasantly surprised me the last 2
weeks). And as Riff said, Vonzell never got any better. Like Syesha, she stayed in by avoiding bad song choices or really bad performances. As people noted
some time ago, the 4th season and 7th are rather simular: both have come after disasterous seasons, both have been marked by rules changes (that year, raising
the age limit and revamping the semis; this year, getting rid of the groups in the Hollywood rounds, not eliminating anybody the first day there, and allowing
instruments), both have seen lots of self-destuctive performers (Mario, Carly, etc.) and both have had eliminations that are flaky without being utterly insane
like the previous seasons had (Michael was great, but he needed to either hit those high notes or NOT TRY TO). And both have allowed good looking black women
to slip thru the cracks a bit, get past seemingly better singers who flaws did them in and get near the finale.

That's funny, but she's still the best one left on there, and if people who call on the phones actually vote for who should win this, its her. Cook
will do fine, and is better off coming in 2nd or even 3rd, he's got his record contract wrapped up, and will sell platinum easily. It would be a great
come from behind story for her to win instead of that creepy Archuleta.

She's the most consistent one there. She may not have hit some of the highs that Cook or even Archie have, but she also hasn't had their disappointing
performances...

Syesha will never sell well - she doesn't have the magnetic personality that Cook has nor the demonic hypnotic powers of Archuleta. |

wow Syesha is the Latoya/Nadia that could...who knew the quiet, non-pimped black girl would last this long...too bad I don't watch Idol anymore... |

Syesha is not going to win, and I don't particularly want her to, for reasons stated in the above postings. She would NOT sell a huge number of CDs, get
dumped by 19Evil, and then spend the next ten years getting heaps of unfair blame from everybody for the fiasco. I WOULD like to see her make the finale and
come in second to David Cook. She's a much better singer than Jason or Archuleta (plus Archie's fans are creepy), and might get a nice onstage career
(or less likely, recording career) out of a second place finish. I think that with the "right" material (i.e. one great song that gets airplay), she
COULD release a CD that would outsell Blake or Katherine.

She could have a future on Broadway. Once her Idol contract is over, she would be perfect for Chicago. And if they ever decide to revive Dreamgirls for
Broadway, she would make a good Deena Jones.

Does anyone remember Estuardo from ZOOM? I stumbled across his Myspace and check out the song http://www.myspace.com/3261151

I was re-watching some of her performances and she's definitely underrated. I love a ton of Syesha's performances, and "Thank The Lord For The
Night Time" is probably one of my favo' performances of the season, along with "One Rock n' Roll Too Many" <3

People decided in the Hollywood round (or before) that all she could do was scream. Despite the fact that she's barely screamed at all (and far less than
Carly or several others), she never got away from the screamer label. She was never given much of a chance. Part of it is her own fault, as she never really
gave THE defining performance, but neither have most of the others (Cook aside). Still she's been solid and consistent and should not have been the
underdog she has been, given that she was up against so many who have crashed and burned so spectacularly...
