And Trixie, to maybe come at your question as to why people were "taking actual live feed and instead of posting it in the LF thread" maybe because they wanted to do that in 'looser' atmosphere and felt their style of 'reporting' might not meet with the standards of the LFR thread.

The only thing that completely confused the hell out of me and then bordered on annoyance was that some people were taking actual live feed and instead of posting it in the LF thread, opted to post it in the discussion thread ONLY. Why would you do that? I'd go and check the feed update thread, nothing is there but the discussion thread had verbatim feed posts which were then discussed. Talk about what is going on with the live feeds in the discussion thread (in between posting cat pictures and flaming each other) but why wouldn't you post the actual LIVE feed in the discussion thread and not post it in the LF thread?

I haven't commented at all in this thread, but the above comments are prompting this one.

For me, this is true. I posted updates in the Live Feed Update thread when I was sure I had it "right." I would transcribe conversations, full of typos, and missing a few words or sentences occasionally in the discussion thread, because I knew others were catching some of the fast talking I was missing. I never felt sure they were accurate enough for the update thread though.

I also had a different view of the houseguests than the majority of the board, so when I posted in the Update thread, it felt like a lot of work just to make sure my own "favorites" were not portrayed in a good light. If I had liked the same people the majority of the posters liked this year, it wouldn't have mattered, since I would have been "seeing" it the same way others were. I am not complaining about the beating I took on the board, for example, for thinking Nat had game, just being honest about reasons for reluctance to post in an "official" thread.

In short, I didn't want to step on toes by posting there at all, but when Areo came on and asked us to (the first time, long ago) I did try to contribute. Sometimes it was only who won a competition, because the details of what happened came out slowly, later, and I wanted to let people know that Sharon had dropped, or Ryan had won ASAP. There wasn't much else to say, since feed viewers didn't get to watch most competitions and the details trickled out slowly over the next few hours or days.

The other problem was that alliances and strategy sometimes changed every hour. By the time an update was posted that, for example, Sharon and Ryan wanted Adam out, it had completely flipped , because Ryan had a talk with Adam a few hours later and now Sheila was the target. This shit happened all season long. The houseguests seemed to turn on a dime. Two hours after an update, the whole thing could be obsolete.

As far as not being "flamed" if you posted in the Update Thread? Not true. The flaming of Update posts just happened in the Discussion Thread. Or at least mine were, by only one poster, but although I still updated occasionally when I saw that a regular updater hadn't posted, it didn't exactly make me want to jump in all that often.
