No. This was not about pot - at least, not with Jason. Carly's already confirmed in interviews that Jason has never had a doobie in his life. Normally,
this would not matter, but when something this fucked up happens, it's important to get the facts straight.

Jason really got shafted last night by Paula's screwup. How could he do well after hearing Paula's negative comments about two songs before he even
sang the second song?
I'm so glad all the media is jumping all over this and questioning the integrity of American Idol. I don't know if I'm going to watch it anymore after Jason's gone. They've gone too far this time with their questionable tactics of the chosen ones, pimp spots, contestants who don't get called on their mistakes and now this. American Idol, you suck! Something funny on the Today show this morning - the hosts were discussing Paula thinking/saying that Jason sang two songs, and then they mentioned that Paula is going to be singing on the show in August. Al Roker said she'll be singing three songs but maybe she'll think she's singing six songs!  Ok, I probably didn't say it
right, but it was funny. Burn!

I agreed with Simon a few weeks ago that Jason was "not obnoxious" like the others, and with Randy that he "might even win it all", and
felt he was an alternative to the screamers, cryers, and lyric-forgetters. After awhile I thought it was "safe" to like Jason, as he seemed to be
there for the long term, so I relaxed after Hallelujah and all the way up to Travellin' Through, feeling Jason was one of the judges' favourites and I
wouldn't find myself suddenly rooting for a loser. Alas, once again they pulled the rug out. Now I'm left with egg on my face, having to wonder if I
have no musical ear at all since the judges (and the world) now tell us he's horrible, isn't trying, isn't himself, and is 'JUST OK'. Now
I'm told that watching David Cook is like watching the American Idol. OOPS. Every year I swear I won't care about ANY of them and the minute I do like
one of them, they become the judges' and fans' punching bag.

My mailman loves Cookie (as do I) but rags on Jason every time we talk. I just laugh and say I think he's adorable and his voice is soothing to my ears.
I think it kind of bugs him that he can't rattle me on this, but why should it bother me? Music is subjective and what sounds good to my ear might sound
hideous to yours (case in point: Archie. He's so polarizing it's scary). My opinion is worth just as much as his, or anyone else's.
Anyway, cheer up, sweetie. Jason is doing fine and even if he goes home tonight, he's so gorgeous and personable that he'll have a career in show business somewhere. |
