Nice try with the chubby lady in waiting. Henry will have her and whoever else crosses his path. I understand Anne's point, but come on.
Also, my heart broke for Lady Mary. At least Henry acknowledged her outside the house, but barely. Daddy issues.

Loved last night's episode. Jeremy Northam was superb as Sir Thomas More; he deserves an Emmy for that performance. I am looking forward to the next week's episode. |

I've seen everything on OnDemand. Episode 5 was very sad. I love Jeremy Northam. Don't want to spoil it for anyone but keep the tissue box close by.

chubby lady in waiting. *i watch every week* heh, that "curvy" one all trussed up in that gold number? hummm... nice... and i agree, anne's blessing or not henry will charge through the women of england like he notoriously charged through a meal. speaking of which... when does the svelte henry with his six-pack and all... leave our screen for the portly henry we all expect? i mean, dude had like 10 years from when he *spoiler* whacked anne */spoiler* until he died. he worked out with fierceness all of that time? please... are we to believe he did the whole corpulent thing in his final few years? come on... granted, i'll accept a hot henry over a porky henry for the sake of a television show. but let's level the playing field. if chubby chicks are put in the spotlight, i demand a historically accurate obese, disgusting, open-running-sores henry! huzzah! |

Jeremy Northam is exceptional in this, so is Peter O'Toole and well...pretty much everyone.
I thought the "heavier" girl was very pretty. |

Cardinal Fisher stole the show for me last night. Actual +%%@! people. It was pretty sad about More too though.
This show is hysterical. Especially the opening scene of Henry, looking all fine, his hair all gelled. lol I mean COME ON. I too will accept hot Henry (obviously) for the sake of the show but he doesnt look like the actual figure AT ALL. For awhile there I thought they were trying to weave in some red highlights into his hair but last night it looked pretty black to me. I thought the whole stealing the young maid from her father thing was pretty funny. The father just stood there like, "hey?" |

Why is t.e.a.r.s a blocked word?
Oh and I LOVED the Pope last night. Something about "thank God we're celibate" or something like that. lol He just delivers his lines with such frankness, it actually comes out very funny. |

Fat Henry VIII | ||

Supposedly, he was injured in a joust in 1536 (after Anne Boleyn's execution). He started packing on the pounds after that.
So, we could have a svelte King for a few more seasons. |

I don't know if this was posted already, but the show has been renewed for a 3rd season.
Showtime orders more tales from 'The Tudors'

The plan is to do 4 seasons total. Season 3 would cover wives 3 & 4. Season 4 would cover wives 5 & 6.
It's just a question of whether JRM will sign on for a 4th season. He's currently signed on for 3 seasons. |

Not quite sure how JRM would do as grotesquely obese festering Henry but I guess no one is watching this for realism.

I cant see him being able to even gain that much weight. He's a pretty thin guy.

This is a snippet from an LA Times article:
If the series goes that long, "we do need to see a physical change in Henry," Hirst acknowledged, but he promised that "we're not going for the fat look. We're going to do it in different ways." |

JRM in a fat suit might be a little bit more then I could bear.

the cool thing is that showtime was/is the upstart trying to (trying to? is that even a question anymore? heh.) become the #1 premium network.
tudors will benefit from that. hbo got so fucking arrogant. fuck the fans of carnivale, fuck the fans of deadwood, fuck the fans of rome, fuck mad men (yeah, that one counts too. they had their chance)... we're not tv, we're hbo! yeah, you're hbo. what have you done lately... and what have you got... *and count my vote here with y'all as well. this show has fudged on historical facts all along. so if "our" henry dies a hot, sexy king... then let him on his death bed be a hot sexy naked king for all of my buds here who love a hot sexy naked henry! i say...* |

Both HBO and Showtime suck pretty bad as far as providing quality new movies consistently.
However, Showtime has HBO beat in the original series department IMO. The only HBO show that comes close to Californication, Weeds, Dexter, Tudors, for me, is Curb. |
