In other words, this set of episodes, with their flash-forwards, was intended to lead backwards to the rescue. After that the show moves on to the next chapter of the story, employing a different type of plot device to drive the story.

That actually fits in with an article I read. In it, Darlton (I believe) said that season 4 was about WHO gets off the island, and establishing the fact that they need to go back to the Island, Season 5 is about WHY they need to go back (and telling the story of how they eventually DO get back), and then Season 6 is about what happens once they get back.

So yeah, I think that's a good assumption to make, that we're slowly but surely going back to the point of rescue.

BTW, Scree (and others) are right. Upon further reflection, Michael's story isn't a "flash forward" for what it's intended purpose was. We are still getting a good amount of story that takes place in the past (Juliet's FB, Desmond's trippy-back, Freighters' FB), so those, as well as Michael's FB, don't count towards the "reverse flash forward" theory.

Assuming that we've figured it out, the next FF episode should take place sometime between rescue and approximately July/August 2004?

BJ, you should edit the first post to sort of reflect all of this stuff. I'm probably going to be studying it a lot to figure out time frames of when stuff happens, lol.

Agreed. I never thought it was because Kate was a fugitive. It always had more to do with the "him" they mentioned.

Well, I'm not sure. The media got BACK into Jack once he became a hero "twice over", as the new Cheif said. The O6 thing may have died down, but it's kind of like being a D-List celebrity. Some people remember who you are, some don't.

But with regards to why it was a secret, it was implied that it had more to do with "him" (Aaron). I'm not sure. But, we do know that a good amount of time has passed between "Eggtown" and "Through The Looking Glass" due to the fact that another 2 FFs were inserted in between those times (going off the "reverse FF" theory), so it's possible that, perhaps, Aaron is quite a bit older, knows more about what happened, and doesn't like Jack? And Kate is doing what he wishes? I really don't know.

Absolutely not. Makes no sense, IMO. If all 6 of them get off together and are known as the "Oceanic 6," it doesn't make sense that Ben OR Sayid would want them dead. More to that, we know Sayid is basically being blackmailed/guilted/etc. into being Ben's assassin, so it just doesn't make sense.

Yeah, it can't really be in that respect, since we've seen Jack in Hurley and Kate's FFs and Hurley in Sun's FF.

Let me think. The reason would have to be explained sometime in Season 5, yes. The ending of Season 4, if the "reverse FF theory" holds true, should be whatever happens that causes only Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Sun, and Aaron to get off the island. Then, Season 5 will probably be some sort of hybrid storytelling, with part of the time devoted to what happens in between rescue and returning to the island (for the O6) and what happens on the island, also during that same time. And then, in Season 6, I would think the stories would sync up, and we would be entirely "in the present" for the rest of the LOST story.

GIAA, I was just speculating that it took place sometime in the winter following Nadia's death, based on the fact that there was snow on the ground. And don't forget that the Apr. 2007 date for the first Jack FF is up in the air because it's based on a newspaper mock-up that's basically been over-analyzed.

Right, I'm with ya on the newspaper thing. I'm just assuming that because Darlton hasn't come outright and denied the date or the timeframe (to my knowledge) it's at least in the ball park.

Ok, so, going off of that, I'm guessing that winter in Germany is roughly the same time span as here in the US? From like November to March or something like that?

November 2005 - March 2006: It could be this depending upon how quickly Sayid starts killing people after tonight's episode, which occured in October 2005. I'll just say doubtful.

November 2006 - March 2007: Not only does this line up closer to the TTLG speculated time frame, but it seems most logical. In Hurley and Kate's FF, Jack hadn't yet gone suicidal. Call me crazy, but I'm assuming that it takes more than a couple months (which is all we'd have assuming that Hurley's FF is AFTER Sayid's FF, assuming the reverse FF theory was still in effect) to go from Hurley-FF-Jack to Jack-FF-Jack.
