Twink, I think Best Buy's geek squad will turnkey a wireless router system in your home and encrypt it so no one can hijack your bandwidth. If you want
backyard access to your system, there is a new protocal called the n which is supposed to have a longer reach. I have the Apple Extreme or whatever they call
their router. I don't have the "n" wireless card in my laptop computer (the windows machine), otherwise I could be across the street and get
access to my home system. However, my macbook has that card and I have a longer reach with this router. My nephew is a computer engineer and mac nut, he
installed my system here. We got a router that also bounces between my cable ISP and DSL so if one goes down, the other automatically takes over. I have to
be up 24/7 so I have 2 hi speed services here. It is pretty slick. I will be upgrading my windows machine soon and will get the n card in that one.
Meanwhile, houseguests are just sitting around listening to Sharon drone on and on about nothing important. She is talking about her dad's military service. She is talking about his security clearances. I had a secret, extensive background clearance back in my corporate day, it is not that big of a deal. The only thing I saw that was "secret" was the F-16 deployment schedule and I am totally sure the Russians already knew when the planes were going to which air force base long before I saw that build schedule. I was an engineer on the MX program. Now they had high clearances there. We had to shut down during the 84 Olympics and they had the military block off the streets to the building where we worked and soldiers with machine guns were posted there the whole time. We got extra paid vacation that year. Good times. |

OMG what drama did I miss that involved PM's and RL info?! Quick, everyone pm me so I can feel important!
I'm fucking pissed we won't be able to watch the comp tonight, the edited crap they show on the TV show just isn't satisfactory. Not that I'm surprised. Fuckers. ETA: LOL...what's CSN?? Cum stained notebook. In other words, crazy people's way of keeping track of every bit of info people post.

On the list of crazy, CSN keepers aren't nearly as bad as the Dirty Drillers. Those people freak me the fuck out.

Twink, it's not that hard, the instruction book walks you through it. It basically is just setting a unique password on your router, and then the first
time someone connects to the wireless signal, they have to put that correct password in to connect. Your laptop should remember it and never ask for it again,
it just keeps the 'bad' people out. I just wrote the WEP Password on a stickie and put it under my router, so when my kids' friends come over and
want to connect, I can give it to them.
