Again, I don't know if that is enough for a Mixed rating, but it was some N. I also disagree with whoever said that Alexis isn't negative for losing the challenge. Well, I agree that isn't why she was negative, but her reaction to the no-cookie was negative. I don't know if she really dropped the rope to get the food or not, but I could tell right away that Jeff hadn't offered the food yet and Alexis wasn't going to get it. They showed her about to argue and then thinking better of it, but they also showed her glowering for the whole walk back...enough to get Jeff to comment on it...which they showed us he did. Jeff comments pretty much hammer home tone for us.

There are no winner spoilers, final 3 spoilers, final 5 spoilers, or even specific boot spoilers from here on out. Nothing. I don't know why people are being so paranoid about spoilers THIS season, when there aren't any. Last season the final 3 was known before the season started and people in here had obviously read the "Amanda Wins" spoiler, but no one batted an eye. It doesn't make sense.

When someone is shown as being lazy while one tribe member is working, that's negative. When they actively complain about the tribe member waking them up (even if James WAS being an ass), that's negative. When the person who got told off gets the confessional about why she's pissing him off, and we're supposed to side with him, that's negative.

I just go by what I have on my own chart, since to me that's the only one that matters. It's just tone! Kitty, I suggest you go rewatch the scene. They made James making nose out of no where, really focused and exaggerated it, and had Parvati ignore it (tossing and turning, staring) until finally she had enough. The scene was manipulated to show why the two began to split... and why James is all of a sudden not trusting Parvati; over a comment. Just rewatch the episode... and look to see if Parvati was editted, by the editors, to make the audience dislike her. I looked hard in all 3 rewatches, and I couldn't find any.

The scene was James getting pissed off because the girls sat around doing nothing when he'd been up all night, keeping the fire going, and then Parvati had to call HIM out. HE got the confessional about it, expressing HIS feelings of anger over Parvati's actions. Had Parvati gotten the comment, then it might've made her look better, but from the edit, she came off as lazy and ungrateful. People who are shown lying around while a worker is working are rarely if EVER not negative.

They overexaggerated James and the noise-making. They could have easily editted it so he made one noise and BAM Parvati bitches. That would be negative, but they didn't. They droned on his noise-making to the point where any normal person would ask him to stop; especially in front of four people who are sleeping. Go take it else-where. James' confessional doesn't make Parvati or him look any better or worse. It just created a leigh-way for James to suddenly be annoyed/distrusting of Parvati. It wouldn't make sense if he randomly told Amanda and Ozzy he didn't trust his little sex kitten.

That scene had no real strategic merit (not to be confused with Emmy Award Winner, Courtney Marit), yet it was included to showcase James as being somewhat annoying, but also showing Parvati as bratty. Again, that's why they gave JAMES the confessional, and not Parvati. They had plenty of other footage, so why show that particular scene, or not get a confessional from Parvati about it. The fact is that when you get shown lying around camp, sleeping, and someone is pissed off, you're typically getting a negative edit. A CPN isn't a bad thing, Blake, but right now, you're acting like you claimed I did in the episode where you thought Tracy should've gotten a CPP and I thought she merited a CP. It's not a big deal.

It helped initiate/introduce a fracture in their relationship, hinting that Parvati rids him soon, just like in her pre-merger terminator confessional. "I might just go ahead with Alexis and Natalie, because even though I love spending time with Ozzy and James, I can't beat them in the end." Thus far, her plans have followed through. Her theme has been about not coming out here a second time and not win. And she got rid of her antagonist; Eliza. So far, things are working the way she planned, and yes, she's in a pickle, but it's to create doubt. We all know she's facing the jury; something we knew with the past 4 winners. Oh, and a fun little tidbit; Aras went to Exile Island after the merger, after the idol was found, and was not shown. So Cirie being shown on Exile Island wasn't exactly a huge thing for her. You've got to remind the audience that Exile Island is still there, and can't ignore it for long stretches. Plus it introduced the hatching of the plan to get rid of Ozzy, because the idol had already been found. Sounds like an appropriate time to show this idea being pondered; on Exile Island.

However, when we were shown James striking the machete against the hatchet, I felt that he really crossed into unnecessary noise level. With that said, I also think that Parvati was negative for her relatively harsh use of "obnoxious" followed by emphasis with "seriously". While I think the scene was negative for them both, Parvati's major role in this episode was voting out Ozzy and winning that competition--both scenes were she wasn't very negative. But anyway, I don't vote so it doesn't matter. I would have just gone CP for her.

I also agree with you that the James/Parvati scene was edited to make us see James as being obnoxious but Parvati wasn't entirely spared. Nothing definitive can be made of that scene alone. This quote caught my eye: "Aras went to Exile Island after the merger, after the idol was found, and was not shown." Which episode? From what I remember Aras only went to EI after merge in Episode 11. These were my editing notes for that episode: His stay at the island had nice visuals of him in yoga poses and sitting on the skull. He knew the idol wasn't to be found: "The idol is hiding in Terry's bag. That part of the game is out of my control. It makes my stay here pretty unnecessary in terms of the positives." It reinforced my opinion of him as a winner because it was totally unnecessary. I remember noting during CI's episode #3 that we didn't see Candice on exile island because it was the first time someone wasn't shown. It kinda told us how far she'd go. Cirie's scene had importance even though the rest of the episode set up Ozzy's boot fairly well.

He doesn't know how much longer he can keep from cussing someone out. That last sentence told me the scene was about James' demise, not Parvati's. It fits with his earlier comment that he was in trouble, once Jonathan left him with the Airai women. He told us then that he's no good at the social game in a largely women's environment. This was no "armpit girls" scene. The eds showed us a full 30 seconds of James trying everything he could think of to make himself an annoyance.

(I was totally in denial about Aras at that point.) I have no other notes for Aras being on EI after the merge.

Sounds rather hypocrytical if you ask me! Jedi, I know where others post for the most simple of reasons - THEY MENTION IT. In edgic. Repeatedly. So no reading of spoiler boards necessary! (the last time I was spoiled was S6) Instead, I just craftily read posts from people and remember what they say! I'm utterly brilliant! Face it - some folks seek out spoilers (anyone who goes to a spoiler board, which I enjoy checking AFTER the finale, is IMO in this category). Others don't. Some of the former like to sneak their spoiled info into edgic. I don't like that. Maybe you don't care one way or the other. I do. ProbstFan claims (and I have no reason to disbelieve PF) that there aren't any spoilers. Cool. Of course, that means you haven't read them - after all, you can't read something that doesn't exist! So you're bent out of shape cuz I suggested that spoiled people (which obviously doesn't include you!) shouldn't post here. Sorry. I still think that. It may be nervy of me to have the audacity to tell spoiled individuals (which cannot possibly include you!) to refrain from posting into a thread whose existence and success truly requires un-spoiled analysis, but I firmly believe it. </high horse>
