This isn't an Edgic question, but how often has the HII been used successfully? I can't remember too many instances where it has been helpful other
than possibly to keep people from voting for the idol-holder and losing control of who gets the boot.

^ The HII was first introduced in Guatemala; you had to play before votes were cast, and Gary played it successfully at the F8, since it was common knowledge that he was the boot target. In S12, Terry had it but was never in danger pre-merge and won every IC up til the F4. It didn't have to be played until after votes were cast, so he just held it at the F4 and no one voted for him. In S13, Yul found it and used the threat of it at the F9 to sway Jonathan to the Aitu 4 side. He also held it at the F4 (like Terry), successfully scaring anyone from voting for him. In S14, Mookie/Edgardo/Alex found one and tried to use it at the F9, but were betrayed by Dreamz. Alex used it, but didn't receive any votes and Edgardo was voted out instead. At the F6, Yau-Man successfully played his HII (he received four votes) and Stacy went home instead. And again at the F5, Earl played one, but it was only a show for the jury since he was in no danger and it was the last TC to play a HII. In S15, James got the two and would've used one at the F11, but his tribe won immunity. He failed to play either of his HII's at the F7 and was blindsided to the jury. And in S16, Ozzy got blindsided while he had a HII. So it was used successfully by four people, used unsuccessfully or not played by three, and played by one just to show off. |

Survivor: Micronesia - Episode 10 (Ratings Watchdog)
Here are my final ratings for Episode 10. Sorry for being so late with them - looks like I'll just make the deadline this week!
Dabu Tribe
Alexis: UTRN2 The 2 visibility might be a bit of a stretch, but I think she got more face time than Natalie and basically just as much as Amanda. The "N" comes from her pouting about not getting the cookie during the Immunity Challenge.
Amanda: UTR2 Amanda was ignored on the Reward scene that she was a part of, and then she got only one confessional, which talked about Parvati's alliance with Alexis and Natalie, and Ozzy having to worry because everyone knows he has the idol. I could see that confessional almost making her MOR. At the Immunity Challenge, she dropped out because she needed a "bathroom break," and that's all we saw of her in the episode.
Cirie: CP4 Cirie's confessionals this episode were basically all about getting rid of Ozzy and the hidden Immunity Idol and she was the first person to suggest voting him out to the other girls. She was definitely complex and strategic.
Erik: OTTP4 My visibility for Erik might be a little higher than most people's, but according to my count, he had 7 confessionals and the entire Reward scene was basically devoted to him, so I think it is justified.
James: MORN3 I think that the sleeping scene reflected poorly on everyone involved, because the girls looked bad for just sleeping all day but James also looked bad for being inconsiderate and making unnecessary noise right in front of them. James also had the moment during the challenge where he sortof gloated when Alexis and Natalie fell down, and then his own bucket fell.
Jason: CPP5 I definitely feel that Jason was a developed character this week, and through his confessionals, we got to hear his feelings, thoughts, and motivations. He was also portrayed as the underdog who was about to get screwed over by the tribe, and I think the intent of the edit was for people to feel sorry for him.
Natalie: UTR1 Well, Natalie got zero confessionals again, but interestingly, she was the first person to initiate the deal with Jason about guaranteeing that she won't vote for him if he steps down out of the challenge. Still, how can she be anything but UTR? We got no insight from her about it; it was shown because it had to be; her visibility is still far below everyone else's, and she was way underutilized again.
Ozzy: OTTN4 Ozzy's edit in this episode seems to be very similar to his Episode 7 edit, where he was given an OTTN. He had all of the general arrogance and then the one confessional about Erik's excitement about going on a Reward in both episodes. He came across as very overconfident and he gloated about how stupid it was for Jason to take the deal. I could definitely see MORN working this episode as well, but I lean slightly towards OTTN.
Parvati: CPN3 Parvati had only one confessional, but she expressed a lot of internal conflict over the vote and about her alliances. It's a weaker "N" for her than the past two weeks, but I still felt like the intent of her edit was negative due to some of the laughing when everyone was making the deal with Jason, and the scene with the girls sleeping where Parvati 'had the nerve' to open her mouth and get mad at James when she was just sleeping. The scene reflected bad on everyone, but in that respect, I think viewers were meant to side with James.
POSSIBLE WINNERS:
1) Parvati

I'll be travelling next Monday, so the tally shall likely come later in the afternoon. Best to get your votes in by 10AM though because I'm not sure
exactly when I'll do it, and my flight gets in at 9:30, so who knows...maybe I'll actually be back in time...but may possibly have a meeting on the
heels of our arrival.

Interesting that 9/10 players with the highest season visibility average have been booted. Unlike Cook islands, they are trying to give every player a story as
they exit.
0.125Cirie Fields -0.188Alexis Jones -0.563Parvati Shallow -0.688James Clement These tone ratings are messed up. How did 4/16 rate Cirie positive? I found her fairly toneless and quiting the IC first for gumming worms isn't impressive. James was a bigger jerk than Ozzy - laughing at Alexis before screwing up himself, making arrogent comments before the TC, and making unnecessary noise while 3 people were sleeping. At least they are both N. Alexis was more negative than Parvati, they should be the reverse. If Parv was lazy in the scene was James, so was Alexis. Parv did speak up but she was calm and reasonable. They showed James hammering away like a madman for awile before she said anything. However, Alexis looking foolish not getting her cookie from Probst, while Parvati held her arm up for 6+ hour. Hardly lazy when she didn't need to win for herself. What really matters is that Parv was stedfastly Neu in relation to Ozzy's boot, while James and Ozzy were clearly N. The scene with James was a short and ambiguous bit piece that hardly should define Parv's tone. In contrast, Alexis was featured much less, so the negativity in her scenes pervades her edit more.

craig, when you say "they should be the reverse" you should add "IMO" to actually get others to agree, IMO at least.
I will do a rewatch. The group split 50% Jason was Positive and 50% Jason was both, so how acentuated is the N stuff? I'll see. For Cirie, I already felt MOR was right, but I bet some debate will be sparked. Michael |

craig wrote: It might actually be more than 4/16, since some people probably voted her N as well, from the fingers crossing. James was about equal in negativity, compared to Ozzy. Ozzy was arrogant and got blindsided while James at least knew what was going on. Plus, we were supposed to be on James' side during the sleep scene. Alexis was upset for getting knocked out of the challenge, but yeah, in retrospect, I should've given her an N. She's just so ignored that you forget things sometimes. Parvati was DEFINITELY negative though, moreso than Alexis if only because of how much focus on her negativity there was. She had the condescending remark to Jason about how he could make friends if he let her win, plus the negativity of telling James to keep it down because she was trying to sleep...when he got the confessional about why he was pissed off at her. Plus all the talk of her being untrustworthy. She was NOT neutral. |

0.125=1/8. So that would be 2/16, but might be more than 2 cuz some probably voted N like someone mentioned.

Since last week in the Sucks Popularity Poll, Parvati has jumped from 45% to 60%, while Alexis has fallen 39% to 28%.
Sucks is giving Alexis a hard time about the Cookie scene, but nobody outside this thread has said much about the Parv\James scene. |
|||
Kitty Pryde1 |
|||
|
That's because Sucks doesn't like Alexis for being bland and boring, and for her voting confessional, which is just a bigger copout than pretty much
anything Amanda EVER said last season. Meanwhile, Parvati helped take out Ozzy, so naturally she's riding high right now.

Alexis was upset for getting knocked out of the challengeIf we're giving out N tone ratings for being upset for getting knocked out of the challenge then we're gonna hafta go back and give out about a hundred more N tone ratings for all of the other Survivor seasons. C'mon now, Alexis didn't even respond to Probst's nasty comments. She should have told him to FOAD. |

I don't see how Jason was N at all this episode, so I don't buy the Mixed rating. He's positive or neutral (I think positive, with all the
beginning confessionals, sad music--no dopey music this time-- and that fact that when the votes were read I'm pretty sure 95% of the viewing audience was
rooting for him to stay).

Really interesting that a lot of you say that Erik is the season's sweetheart & Parvati is the season's villain, when Erik is actually just the 4th
most positive (based on rating scores) and Parvati is the 6th most negative! Even Amanda & Jason are more negative than her. I understand where the people
who are saying that are coming from, but it's interesting to actually compare it to the real stats. Even more interesting that Tracy is the most positive
for the whole season so far. Go Tracy!
I hate to agree with Oowatanite, since he/she is so fucking annoying, but I do agree. Alexis wasn't N. If anything, she might have even been P. I originally gave her the P, but I don't think there was actually any intent to begin with. I just felt bad for her personally I guess. |

I've been purposefully away from edgic because of all the #$%#&*$#&$* spoiler talk. I don't give a crap whether someone says "there
are/aren't/maybe/could be/I don't know/I know but won't tell/ BS about spoilers. Shut the *#$# up. If you read spoilers stay the #%)#&*$
away from here.
Oh, FLF: Cirie was CP. - wet comments in the cave at EI, truly odd that they put it in, but then made sense - she explained clearly why Oz was dangerous and how she might have to work at getting him out. Then she did get him out. BTW, quitting a challenge because of food or whatever might be slightly N, but I've never thought it was barely budging the N needle. The fact that Parv stuck it out was NOT P. Somebody wins an endurance challenge whenever there is an endurance challenge. That sort of makes sense... but only the most pathetic devotee of the Immaculate Parv would call that some glorious P moment. She won. She tricked someone. Nice job. But P? Hey, if you want a P as an endurance victory think Andrew. He was in #!#@+ because he wanted it so much. Now, that's P. The Cirie corralled the anti-Oz votes together. Then she made the astute warning to not tell Amanda. Yes, Parv seemed to be unsure. But like I said earlier, Cirie made the dynamite, and just handed the match to Parv. Kaboom. People say that strategy doesn't in and of itself always guarantee a CP. But sometimes it does. This is one. She had depth and insight in her edit - and oddly, that little bit of her enduring the rain iced it for me. She was CP. Neither P nor N. |
|||
craig |
|||
|
All i said was that Parv's marginal P for endurance at least outweighs the marginal N for the James scene. CP4 Neu.
Cirie fans have sympathey for her enduring the rain in Exile, but Parv gets no credit for "taking one for the team" and holding her arm up for 6+ hours so the alpha males they all wanted to target didn't get it. Meanwhile Cirie eats gummi worms and poor Alexis screws up her attempt to quit for a cookie. Aras and Danni chose to complete rather than eat too - and not just by mistake like Amanda.

It's one thing to read them, and post them, but to tell people that they can't post one place and can post another is rather ridiculous. How does someone know where someone else posts unless they have been "snooping" around themselves?-especially if there is absolutely no reflection of that in their posts or opinions. Sounds rather hypocrytical if you ask me! Sounds like some people need to step off their high horses a bit. |

Aras and Danni chose to complete rather than eat too - and not just by mistake like Amanda. But in both of those instances it was specifically setup that the people that didn't compete were foolish for choosing to eat because they were giving an advantage to a player from the opposing or demolished alliance. This wasn't the case with Parvati's immunity win, since it wasn't setup up as a positive or negative or her taking one for the team, she just won and that's it. |
