Am I the only one that was disgusted with many of the rescues and their adoption policies?

some of them have exceedingly high requirements for adopting. one wouldn't consider our neighbors until they put in a fence. in the middle of winter.

Why did they want it done in the middle of winter? That does seem a tad stringent.

I made both of my dogs a peanut butter sandwich and rolled around on the floor with them after that.

They don't NEED a fenced yard, I don't have one, and my dog is fine.

we've placed dogs in homes w/o fenced yards - depends on the people and the situation
just never tell the home interviewer that you put the dog outside at night and/or won't let it be in the house at all |

Well, that's true. It depends on the dog and the situation. But if it's a big dog and inexperienced owners with an unfenced yard - I'd say fence
the yard and get back to us. There are a lot of reasons why the neighbors might have been denied the dog. If the rescue organization thought they needed a
fence, the season wouldn't matter.
Rescue organizations have to be tough. I know that people bad mouth them as being too tough, but they already are dealing with dogs that were acquired by people who didn't give the dog or their situation enough thought. Rescue has to take everything into consideration this time around to make sure the dog is placed correctly. |

[Yesterday] a woman at the pet store yelled at me for owning (fostering) a field mouse. She shrieked: "MA'AM IT'S ILLEGAL IN THE COMMONWEALTH TO 'KEEP' A MOUSE"!!!" Then...she glared at me. I was only trying to find a fancy mouse to keep little Chica company : ( |
