Posts: 1443 (03/30/08 2:50 AM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	I got into the following: Maryland/College Park - 4k scholarship and Honors Program Loyola College in Maryland - 25k renewable scholarship and Honors Program George Washington University - 20k scholarship and Honors Program Johns Hopkins University Boston Collge (Maybe/Probably) Dartmouth I want to study International Affairs/Relations/Politics. Pick one for me, please. Thanks! On a related note, I was REJECTED by the apes at Georgetown. Which would ordinarily be fine with me. But they never assigned me an interview which is REQUIRED. It's not for lack of trying, though, because I sent them multiple emails, called them, and sent them a letter, even, of the course of three months. I mean, I (my dad) paid for me to be treated like any other applicant. I guess I was wrong in thinking that the Georgetown admissions office cares about their prospective students. And, so, I'm contemplating legal action to get my 65 dollars back. I'll wait for the response to my scathing email, though. It's not like I wanted to go to Georgetown and study at the most prestigious IR program in the country. I mean, they whore the fact that Madaleine (sp?) Albright teaches there. It's like, who the fuck is Madeleine (sp?) Albright? Secretary of What? Let's be real here. Being Secretary of State during the late 90s is like being principal of a...of a...really nice private school where the worst thing that happens is a...is a...bad word thrown here and there. The biggest thing she did was handle the Kosovo issue which was really just an effort to take media attention off of Bill Clinton's cock. And now she writes useless books and makes millions which all goes, I'm sure, to her cocaine habit. Madeleine Albright, more like, Madeleine HALFBRIGHT, AMIRITE, FELLAS? IT'S NOT LIKE I EVER WANTED TO GO TO GEORGETOWN!

BC, Johns Hopkins and WashU all have good political science departments as well. Sucks, though, about Georgetown. I haven't heard good things from them either, and if their admissions is any like the Ivies, you probably needed to set up an interview with an alum personally as opposed to getting the Admissions office to do it for you. You should have considered coming out west, though. Considering the caliber of schools you were accepted to (and applied), you could have done fairly well out here, but that's neither here nor now.

That doesn't sound so bad for a top 100 national university. Congrats on your scholarships to Loyola and George Washington. I'd go with Maryland, but what the hell do I know - I graduated from CSU Fullerton after dropping out of USC. George Washington did have a good run in the basketball tourney last year though... If you want to become some major politician, I'd go to George Wash. or John Hopkins or Dartmouth. If you're selecting that major because it's just interesting to you, I'd go to a public uni or a uni that's given you a huge schollie like George Wash. ETA: Georgetown is for fags.

The other option is to not sue them but instead go to Dartmouth or Hopkins, get a 4.0 the first year, and transfer to Georgetown.

I think Dartmouth might have more of a classical Liberal Arts orientation while Hopkins has more of a science orientation, but that's just based on hearsay. I'd also consider GW if you're interested in working in politics after graduation, since it's already in DC and easier to do internships and stuff like that on Capitol Hill because you're already there. I also got rejected from Georgetown's School of IR or whatever they call it when I applied. It turned out okay because I discovered I liked American politics better and that's what I'm still studying!

The thing about Hopkins is people think of it as such a science-oriented school that they overlook all the other programs, particularly those in the humanities. (The writing program, in particular, is awesome.) As a result, the non-science classes tend to be much smaller, and everyone knows each other -- and their professors -- very well.
