The fact is there are very few Dolly Parton songs (at least the ones I know) that are gender neutral. Travelin' Thru is from TransAmerica, so I guess that one could swing both ways. Does anyone have guesses on song choices? I'm really interested in the possibilities.

I can't see having Dolly Parton week and not doing I Will Always Love You. Dolly's version is not as difficult vocally as Whitney's so it could be toned down. Syesha might try and pull it off, especially if she wants to prove Simon wrong. I actually think Carly=I Will Always Love You and Ramielle=Here You Come Again makes the most sense, but Ramielle is never very creative with song choices and this week I think she'll go with what's most familiar to her. I'm really starting to second guess Cook=Jolene now, but I can't see any other option for him.

Current Predictions:

Kristy: When I Get Where I'm Going Alternate: To Daddy
Dolly co-wrote this with Brad Paisley so it should be eligible. I think Kristy will play off her fan base this week and this is a song that only she could pull off among the remaining contestants.

Brooke: Coat of Many Colors Alternate: To Daddy
Brooke will probably be returning to the guitar this week as we haven't seen it since the semi-finals. These are both good simple acoustic numbers, but Coat of Many Colors is an extremely well-loved and personal song. It's also Dolly's favorite.

Ramielle: Here You Come Again Alternate: Heartbreaker
Eva Avila sang this on Canadian Idol and it was well recieved so I won't be suprised if it shows up tonight. Ramielle seems like the best fit for it.

Carly: I Will Always Love You Alternate: The Grass is Blue
Out of all the contestants, I think Carly is the most dependent on songs with strong vocals. I think it is very possible that Carly would attempt the Whitney version. Either that or she has to really change up another song to show off her voice. I could see her doing this with Jolene if the guys chicken out because of the lyrics.

Syesha: The Grass is Blue Alternate: Heartbreaker
Syesha is in a dilemma because Simon called out the limit to her vocals last week. She could attempt Whitney, but anything short of a flawless performance will only prove his point. Like Carly she's going to have to jazz up the vocals or pull a stunt like she did with Yesterday. Norah Jones sang The Grass is Blue with Dolly at the CMAs and I think it would be a good choice for Syesha if she does her homework. I could see her doing Heartbreaker, but it's not that memorable of a song. Heartbreaker could spell doom for either Syesha or Ramielle.

The Guys are a shot in the dark since I can't envision any of them singing Dolly Parton.

Michael: Jolene (Not White Stripes Version)
Michael's personality and song choices make me think that he might go for this one, but it's really just the only song I can imagine him singing. Honestly I think he's the most screwed by this week's theme.

Archuleta: Two Doors Down???
I guess this fits his personality. It talks of "no longer crying" and has major theme park potential.

Cook: Bargain Store Alternate: Jolene (White Stripes Version)
Bargain Store is basically about being "damaged goods," so it might be weird, but it has a sort of cool Johnny Cash guitar thing going on that might serve Cook well.

Jason: I Will Always Love You Alternate: Travelin' Thru???
If they can both do the same song then I could see Carly opening with the Whitney version and Jason ending with a stripped down Dolly version. I think if Jason is smart this is what he'll do. Otherwise I have no clue.
