He was so annoying last night. His answer to the whole simon thing was plain as clear that it wasn't his choice and to make it even
more true, he couldn't even give a good answer and just laughed it off just looking guilty and shaking scare.

I have resigned myself to the fact that he's going to win this competition (no qualifier... he WILL win) more out of his cult of personality rather than
his admittedly good voice. That doesn't bother me, because I can look back at how Daughtry is on the airwaves and Taylor Hicks has vanished without a
trace, no one there to watch him prance around like an asshole, and I suspect that even when he does win, that David Cook and probably Brooke and possibly
Jason Castro are going to be the ones we still hear about three years from now, and I am okay with that.
What bothers me about Archuleta... it's not him. He's any harmless, naive, sheltered precocious child star. He's full of rainbows and puppies and goodness and light and all that shite, and Paula is representative of the type that eats that up with a spoon. What I object to is that he chooses to sing banal treacle that makes me think of those Successories posters... you know, the ones with the soaring eagles that are supposed to be inspirational and I can't look at them and think "really, people find those inspirational instead of ironic?" I feel about the Archuleta cult the way I do about people that like Successories posters... I don't see anything intrinsically bad about it per se, but I still judge because I don't like being manipulated by USDA grade A bullshit. |

I briefly turned the TV on when American Idol was on. I didn't hear Archuleta sing. I DID hear the screaming tweentards, so I switched channels. I still
say the screaming could be from a sound effect machine.

Was that really made by the Mormons? Or does it just say that? That was a real LDS commercial from 1980. Avid viewers will note the heavy reliance on African-Americans in the ad because it came out right after the Mormons lifted the ban on blacks from the priesthood.
