Most artists would LOVE to sell 700,000. It's only disappointing because he's an AI winner. If Pickler had won AI and Taylor finished 6th place, but their sales figures remained the same, people would be calling Pickler the flop and Taylor the surprise success story. Context is everything.

The context of Taylor's sales is that he had no support post-release and no radioplay, unlike any of the Idol winners. The album wasn't bad. It wasn't great, but there were some decent singles on there for AC or Hot AC radio. So I'm just saying that to compare him to other Idol winners is unfair, since they had the support he didn't. Add to that the fact he is niche and not pop or mainstream, unlike the other winners, and it makes it even more unfair to compare them.

Beatboxing is interesting to watch onstage and on TV, but it doesn't sell CDs or downloads. Second biggest was that Kellie Pickler would flop. Here, Sucks is simply out of balence with current CD buyers. People in rural areas don't have as many computers and ipods and all that shit. Nor are they seen in any real numbers on this board. They are a little behind the times. So when they want music, they mostly still go out and BUY THE CD. That's not such as bad thing. For this year, I think the biggest sales prospects are David A (Tween girl/Claymate purchases), David C or Michael (potential second Daughtries?) and KKKristy (more likely to sell worse than Bucky, not better than Kellie, but with the right songs she could so well). KKKristy has it easiest. Based on history she just has to stay a few more weeks to get a contract somewhere, almost everybody else has to make top 4 to do so. A few people think Jason could win. He would be an utter disaster commercially.

She will probably have moderate success as well with the right songs. Even Phil Stacey has a new video that is being played on CMT. If you go on AI, go for country.

Her label does a really shitty job of promoting her and it's truly amazing that she has even sold what she has. My guess is if Taylor had finished 6th no label would waste their time on him and he definately wouldn't have done as well. I agree, PF. I think she will reach 1,000,000 sales by the fall and Platinum status. Her album seems to be a slow burner, which sometimes is the best thing. Her singles are doing amazingly well, she isn't a huge success story for Idol but she isn't necessarily a flop either. Given the economic climate and the stingyness of the consumer these days, she is having a good amount of moderate success due to her single successes mostly.

Her latest single is things that never cross a man's mind...anyone who was going to buy her CD based on Red High Heels already has done so. The performances was really more for show IMO than promotion otherwise she'd have sung her current song not her very first single.

Billboard always dates their charts two weeks in advance. I have no idea why. I'm sure she'll show an increase although it may not be major.
