would it be better to stay at places longer or see more places? I think I'd want to do it over 3 weeks with an itinerary like this:
London -> Paris -> Biarritz -> Bilbao -> Madrid -> Lisbon -> Sevilla -> Tarifa -> Tangier (day trip) -> Tarifa -> Barcelona -> Marseille -> Milan -> Zurich I'm willing to cut out Sevilla and Zurich and maybe Bilbao. |

You're better off spending a semester/year somewhere. You get a better experience that way. On breaks you can visit the places you want to see, since
air/train fare is fairly cheap.

I can't do semester abroad because of my major requirements being offered only on campus. That's why I'm doing this rush.

Go with the plan, but if you find someplace special, stay longer and cut out another leg of the trip. The frantic pace might wear you down quickly, leaving it
hard to enjoy any place.

I would cut stuff out.
I am spending 20 days there and going to four cities and I even think that is too fast. All you will be doing is traveling from one place to the other. You might not enjoy yourself. I would say pick five or six places you really want to go and only go there. Make sure you go to Paris. I am spending a full week there when I go. BTW when are you going? |

If you're going to Italy, you shouldn't skip Rome! Personally I'd forget about Marseille, Seville and Zurich. Marseille sucks.

Here's the thing... this trip will only be fair and that is okay because you are young. Your next trip will be much better because you will have learned from experience. Besides the biggest reason to go backpacking through europe is to make others that have not done it jealous. |

It depends, if you're going with somebody who knows the area, or are meeting somebody there who knows the area and can show you the sights in some
efficient manner, then you could make it work.
Otherwise, you'll end up getting flayed alive by somebody, and will end up as somebody's second skin. |
