All of the rockers take this 'I'm too rock n roll for this show', yet here they are ON the show. Sure, they are rockers when compared to karoake fucknuts they have on the show, but the way they 'look' at others is the same way people like Kerry King, Vinnie Paul or Lemmy would look at them (like Lite Rock FM pussies). But they all need to put it into perspective. They are all average singers who just got a fucking MASSIIIIVVVVEEEE opportunity to fast track their careers. An opportunity that 99% of all people in bands won't get. Appreciate that shit for what it is. Also, appreciate that fact that people who really arent all that unique or interesting are getting these chances, not the magical 'separators'. I've had my ipod on shuffle and I've had, in the last hour: The Spinners - Rubberband Man Al Green - Lets Stay Together The Pogues - Thousands are sailing The Smiths - There is a Light That Never Goes Out Whitesnake - Soldier of Fortune (Deep Purple) - David Coverdale Now THAT is some singing with some unique voices. None of this karaoke shit on AI.

Hours after narrowly missing the cut to join "American Idol"'s touring Top 10, AMANDA OVERMYER talked about her experience on the hit FOX series. "Yesterday was the most traumatic thing that's happened in my life; I just got voted off of a TV show," the rocker chick quipped. "I definitely had hoped for position six or seven, but it's not how it worked out. It is what it is. I'm not going to cry over spilled milk." The night before viewers voted Amanda off, judges RANDY JACKSON and SIMON COWELL chastised her for a "pitchy" and somewhat "predictable" performance of THE BEATLES' "Back in the U.S.S.R." Was song choice her downfall? "No, I don't think that the song choice had anything to do with it, because if it wasn't that song, it was going to be another song that sounded like me singing it," Amanda said, adding that next week she would've tackled "On the Dark Side" by JOHN CAFFERTY AND THE BEAVER BROWN BAND. She also noted that she didn't let the judges' critiques influence her performances: "I wanted to be respectful and listen, but … the objective of being on this show was to go out there and show America me, perform like me, look like me and see how well it would take. The comments from the judges were based more on the idea of trying to win, and I had a different agenda." What, then, was the Indiana native's agenda? Did it include a career in music? Home oxygen and durable medical equipment were the tools of Amanda's former trade -- a career she says she'll go back to if need be. "As of right now, no decisions are being made as far as what exactly I'm going to do, because I have no idea if there are any options … It's going to be a little bit of a waiting game for the next couple of months probably." But if the rebel rocker with the snow-streaked hair has in fact growled her last verse for audiences, she's at peace with that: "If this is just 15 minutes of fame, I'm not going to chase it my whole life trying to get it back; I'll take it for what it is and move on."

Unfortunately, she's a very boring, limited rocker. From the audition she seemed like someone from a Joplin tribute band. The whole "I don't do ballads" thing was stupid. I guess she was better than Gina from S6 (shrug).

Posts: 360 (03/21/08 3:53 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	I'm conflicted about this one - on one hand I found her realism refreshing but it was sort of tainted by a "I'm too cool for this crap" kind of attitude, which maybe was just a defense mechanism to mask the pain of being voted off earlier than she'd hoped. Whether or not it was sincere, she IS spot on about her chances of success in the industry, however -- an 11th place finish is about as forgettable as it gets, especially considering how bad of a shouter (what she did was not singing) she was.
