i dont see why it matters the order the votes are read..the show is pretty much edited in a fashion that we as a audience already knows who is going.

them not choosing to show Erik's votes makes complete sense considering Erik was never a target, but they really screwed with me at least because i thought
"ok, they'll show the three votes for Chet from Cirie/Ozzy/Amanda and now here come the 4 Ozzy votes....so imagine how pissed i was when Jeff pulls
out the fourth vote and goes "5th person voted out of Survivor Micronesia......"

Maybe by refilming him by himself reading them. Or they just edit the read votes in a different order. I'm sure that never happened though. I'm not
sure I understood what part you were asking about.
Question: Does anyone know if EPMB and Jiffy go over the tapes of the voting at TC to determine the order? |

Lex's vote for Colby in All Stars, shown but last vote read.
There are definitely more but those are just some I can remember off the top of my head. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they did re-shoot Jeff doing
the vote order, I mean they got plenty of time.

The thing that always bugs me about the way votes are read is that Jeff will say "The _____ person voted out is..." even if there's still the
possibility of a tie or still the possibility of the rest of the votes being for someone else. Tonight wasn't a particularly bad example, since it was an
obvious boot, but this ruins the suspense whenever it happens and I have no clue why Jeff does it. He didn't do it during the first season. I'm not
sure when he started doing it though.

We recently had a guest lecturer who worked on survivor China and they said after the survivors vote they sit there for up to an hour. During this time the
storyboard writers and editors have a meeting and go throught the votes and decide the order in which jeff will read them. I think it pissed the editors off
that the fans had this plan over the course of the episode targeting Ozzie and Cirie, but then randomly voted for Eric. This annoyed them and they said to Jeff
"vote the asshole off 5 - 0". It also has to do with the discussion at TC itself..... i think at the Fairplay / Jim Tribal its was openly discussed
who was leaving. No editing can really save this.

No, that's not what I said--I said "when there were more than one vote for someone else." In the case of Margaret, Ozzy, and the others, it was a Unanimous vote for the bootee, plus the bootee's own vote which obviuosly was for someone else. But this time, it wasn't a unanimous vote and TWO votes went to a non-booteeThis time was interesting, since he never showed votes for anyone but Chet--usually he would have read Chet's own vote (for Erik), probably second. This may be the first time that ONLY votes for the bootee were shown, when there were more than one for someone else. Back in the early days--ironically enough, when past votes actually counted for something--I know that Varner said Kimmi's vote wasn't read when she got out (hence his "One that I know of" comment after the merge tie) and IIRC Silas said somewhere that his vote against Frank wasn't read either. The producers are lucky neither vote came into play later because that's pretty undeniable rigging.I remember those, but of course, if those votes HAD made a difference, they would have edited them to be shown. For everyone's benefit, the complete list of unrevealed, non-bootee votes:Thanks--and as I said, the only time TWO votes were for a non-bootee was this time, for Erik. do they read them live in a different order and then jeff goes back and reads them again once the editors have decied whose votes they will show during the episode? No, they arrange them in what will be a "suspenseful" reveal for the contestants, but of course most importantly, suspenseful for the audience. The latter part may need to be manipulated in editing, but they must try to keep it suspenseful "live" as well, if only to get the "OMG" facial expressions such as Edgardo's and Alex's. I've noticed lately (last few seasons) that it seems that Jeff often shows the votes written by the two possibilities first (and we are also shown them writing them), since they are the least suspenseful--this only works in those weeks where there are two pretty obvious choices, of course. BTW, in the British Survivor, season 2, for the final (jury) reveal, they not only left them in the exact order they had been put in, but the host "reminded" everyone who's vote was which (since they had voted in jury order) and he would say "So that means this vote was John's..." etc. I thought that was a horrible way to do it! |

yeh the british survivor was rubbish at all that. they would just randomly pluck out the votes, read ALL of them even after someone had enough to be voted out,
and not keep a tally so it became hard to remember who got how many votes. not good!

I think its pretty obvious guys. The Erik votes only would have confused the audience and have seemed to come out of nowhere; hence they weren't shown.

Well, technically he WAS the 5th voted out of Micronesia!"5th person voted out of Survivor Micronesia......"6th I think its pretty obvious guys. The Erik votes only would have confused the audience and have seemed to come out of nowhere; hence they weren't shown. But there have been many times when a vote(s) "confused the audience", and they showed it/them anyway. Most recently, Ami's stray vote for Cirie...for which we saw no advance discussion or suggestion. |

Wasn't the reason Kimmi's vote not read because of the torrental downpour that night? I seem to recall it was raining heavily and it might of just been
a stupid error on Jiffy's behalf not to read it because everybody wanted to get the hell out of Dodge.

Also, I remember hearing that there was like a vote that got messed up due to it raining so hard and that since it didn't affect the outcome they
didn't read it.That's just speculation though,

Um...there's no need to reshoot anything. All they have to do is edit the footage of the vote reading in the proper order and cut to a reaction shot to
mask any jumps.
