Rufus Wainwright is having a nice career for himself and he's outwardly gay. Danny doomed himself with bad song choices and sassiness. I think America dislikes the talking back to the judges thing more than him being gay, but they would have overlooked it if he had shown his vocal talent more. David H. had a poor performance this week but it was a combination of things that did him in. His personality is a little bland and I think it was the stripping part of his "scandal" that got him more than the gay thing. If it had come out that Carly or Kristy or any of the girls were strippers, it would have hurt them as well.

Also some people assume that the only reason David H. didn't get more votes is because of the gay rumors ... isn't judging a singing contest and personal tastes a little subjective???

Danny also made poor song choices and didn't show off how well he really can sing. David H made a very poor choice this week but I definitely think his being gay and a stripper is what landed him dead last over someone like KKKristy. She was horrific but I'm sure the South likes her Cuntry thing, and might not be too fond of gay strippers. In this day in age people have heard about it, even if they don't come online. Like I said, my friend's 80 year old grandmother heard about it.

They vote for who they like vocally, but also there is an attraction factored in (just take a peek in the Castro thread and you'll see what I mean). If it comes out that a male contestant is gay, then the female voters can't fantasize that he's singing to them or that they'll be together someday or whatever shit. So they don't become as invested and vote as much.

He can't do falsetto and shouldn't have picked a song and arrangement that required one in order to work. I am sure he'd have been safe, but probably still in the bottom 3, if the gay stripper club thing hadn't been so publicized (and if the judges hadn't been so harsh). A lot of Idol voting comes down to demographics: Syesha is the only black female left, KKKristy the only country singer left. David didn't have any obvious block of core fans. And many AI fans don't want to vote for people who get involved in ANY scandel, gay-related or otherwise. Something like half of the male contestants on the show have been gay, and nobody really minds as long as the gayness isn't shoved down their throats, metaphorically or otherwise. People knew Anwar was gay WHILE HE WAS ON THE SHOW but he was a cool guy so nobody cared. Other contestants like RJ Helton (or Jason Castro this year) have been obviously gay, but again, nobody cares. It's only when somebody gets into controversy over it or is a real flamer like Danny that people object.

It wasn't like Kristy was not even in the bottom two, she was right there with him. Just about everyone I spoke to yesterday thought he was terrible and should go. This was no surprise at all and this outrage about the "reasons" he went is kinda funny because he really was terrible.

Therefore, Danny is gone-because he was obnoxious, not the whole gay thing, otherwise he would have been gone in round 1 of the top 24. David waved his wang in peoples' faces which is pretty obnoxious and gave a horrible, obnoxious performance. Kristy gave an obnoxious performance, therefore the most obnoxious people were in the bottom 2. Kristy survived because she is country and more girls voe for the country girl. All of the tweeny chicks already picked the boy they love-David A. Therefore there just wasn't anyone left to vote for D.H. He would have had to be the best of the night to have survived. He was not even close. Even if he were in the top 6 of the night he would have gone. Inconclusion, people don't care if youare gay or not, just how obnoxious and dumb.

This is what I mean. You can be openly flamme and be successful but what kind of success is it and what is success to the individual. Mika is rumoured to be gae but in interviews he hasn't said anything and avoids it (last time I checked). He knows if he comes out, albums will stop flowing out of the stores, and people won't be as interested in his music. Just like movie stars. It's well known in Hollywood how many "Straight" big time actors are in fact, gay. Many have had gay sex and have been with men. They know if it ever came out, they would be ruined. Movies wouldn't sell, sponsors would dry up. David left indirectly because of his scandal. I'm sure if it hadn't broken out that he would be there, over Kristy or Syesha. Not saying he wouldn't be B3 or that it was crappy, but for what he produced on stage the past weeks, surely his fans would of kept him up. Syesha went first and got 3rd last? This is why you hardly see any openly gay recording artists or stars because the showbiz is biased and unfortunately, so is much of the population to varying degrees. Crappy performance or not, David definitely cut his days short with his scandal.

I couldn't care less if someone is gay or not, has nothing to do with how I vote or who I like. If Jason Castro was gay i'd still vote for him same as I am now.

Take your criticism. I liked when in week 2 of the semis, he was saying his performance the previous week did kind of suck, and bantered with Simon. But, then he went back to the eye-rolling and the bitchiness the next week. Hell, I liked KKKristy for a minute last night when she just told Ryan to give her the mic. David H had a great voice, but sucked the night before. But, he wasn't bad enough. The worst thing you can be at this stage is mediocre. Kristy had the benefit of going late and getting horrible reviews. I actually thought the bottom 3 were going to be David, Syesha, and Ramiele. While I'm sure there are some people who would not vote for an openly gay contestant, there may be people who would vote for him (or her) for that reason. As for females, there was Briana from season 3, but she was in group 2 in the semis, and that whole group was atrocious. I wouldn't be surprised if Tami Gosnell from last season was. She was good, but last season was just really fucked up.

You know as well as I do that many of the most prolific voters are scarily invested and have an attraction to the contestant above and beyond loving his voice.

I think his scandal made him more interesting and that's precisely WHY he stayed longer. I thought he was toast last week. Celine fucking Dion? Gimme a break. He just didn't appeal to people, gay or not. Stripper-gate was about 2 weeks ago, long before Tuesday nights performance. If anything, being the stripper kept him in the contest another week. He performed mid-way through the show, didn't have much of a personality (he looked smug), cheesy performance and an all over the place vocal. It is not any scandal he's gone. Seriously I don't get all this justification. He didn't appeal to people...period!

I think if he'd been able to deliver following the week he did Papa Was A Rolling Stone, we wouldn't be having this discussion at all. He wasn't great last week, he wasn't good at all this week, and he performed earlier on in the show, those last two things have spelled doom for many contestants. Outlandishly bad performances such as Kristy's seem to garner sympathy votes.

Nigel doesn't want a gay lapdancer on his show. Someone wrapped in a confederate flag is ok tho. Plus the judges know they don't do their arrangements. DH was given that arrangement to sing so they could criticize it, and make it seem like he was terrible. He was one of the best on there.
