We should all be afraid of everyone and everything forever.
Help me, Obi Wan OT, someone is rattling my door. Is it a burglar? Is it a rapist? Should I get a baseball bat and bash it's head in? Oh, it's just my cat. Nevermind. |

New rasmussen poll shows Obama 46, Clinton 45 (I think it was nationwide, I turned the tv in the middle of this discussion), but Rasmussen said Obama dropped 8
points overnite. AND in the battle ground states, now McCain is ahead. I wonder if this will cause some nervousing with the superdelegates? This is going to be
INTERESTING as this unfolds. I don't think regular voting Americans are prepared to vote somebody into the Oval office who has gone to a church where the
preacher has preached HATE AMERICA for 20 years. In spite of all of our warts and flaws, I still believe we are the best country in the world and we are noble.
I have noticed all the talking head spinmasters trying to defend these sermons as inconsequential in the predidential campaign seem to bring up everything BUT directly addressing how this will impact the voters RIGHT NOW. I heard one talk about how evil America was because of slavery. Umm, didn't we fight a civil war that resulted from the slavery dispute (yeah I know states rights and all, but slavery was the underlying issue)? And slavery ENDED before the BULK of white American ancestors even stepped foot into this country (big immigration waves began in 1880 and onward). OK, snark all you want to here, but the average American in the flyover country just does not hate America like some do on the east and west coasts. Obama's candidacy is in serious trouble.

I thought I read somewhere that the Native American tribes with casinos require at least an X% amount of ancestry before they get the economic benefits from
the casino. True, Not True?

Some don't even know what that means. Besides which, legally: Biracial 50%black+50%caucasian = Black so what's the problem? I doubt mainstream Americans go about referring to themselves as Scotch-Irish-German or Italian-Polish-Crimean unless it becomes relevant to some issue at hand, or if race/ethnicity/national origin happens to come up in conversation. |

I'm biracial,. too. Actually, more like triracial or quadracial. I actually embrace myself and share about my racial background, which is why Obama's
stance irk me so much. His mother seems like a great person. She was out there, trying to better lives of people in Indonesia. I would be proud to have her as
my mother especially that she raised him as a single mother. His dad was not there for him, but we don't know the whole story.
However, Obama seems to try to hide the fact (or minimalize) that he is biracial. It is almost like he is overcompensating himself as a black man though he really not. Politically, he is black. Biologically, he is half. I just cannot recognized him as a first black candidate for a president though his wife will be considered as first black first lady. Obama seems to play his mother's side only when it is about education, briefly showing picture of his young mother. It is a shame because his mother would have been a good consultant (due to her tie with Indonesia) to swing Asian voters, but that won't happen because Obama had to committed himself to his church and father's side. I think it is funny that so many white-looking people considered themselves to be Indian while so many black-looking (with Indian blood) considered themselves to be black. I do agree that when certain people called themselves black or indian are probably either perceives themselves that way or simply try to avoid "biracial" category. Many people seems to think "biracial" include "bisexuality", too. What is interesting is that I notice many half black/Indian still called themselves black. I don't care if he is a bottom for some man, went to some Islamic school (as long as it is religiously tolerant) or wear a turban in Kenya. My concern is what kind of beliefs he installed while attending controversial church that his own mom avoid and why he is so reluctant to embrace his mother's side. He seems to try to hide it or avoid the subject altogether. His wife, not Obama, speak for the most part during "60 minutes" segment. Obama looks very uncomfortable during the interview. Is there a skeleton waiting to be unleashed? |

Can we please discuss Bush being "envious" of soldiers fighting in Afghanistan, and how "romantic" it is? And whether these
comments are in fact proof of his mental incapacity? Pretty please??
In other news, most of us seem to agree that Obama's preacher man has gotten him in some hot water. The question of whether this will affect the upcoming primaries will not be answered for a few weeks. I am on the fence on this issue. While Obama is NOT RESPONSIBLE for what Wright says, I do wonder how pervasive these types of sermons were and how much it influenced his thinking. I also don't like the idea of voting based on a person's religious beliefs. One could perhaps argue (as has been done in this thread), that Mitt Romney's beliefs, or any Christian's beliefs for that matter, are every bit as ludicrous. I have noticed all the talking head spinmasters trying to defend these sermons as inconsequential in the predidential campaign seem to bring up everything BUT directly addressing how this will impact the voters RIGHT NOW.Bizarre. I have seen this discussion in every possible permutation on the news. I thought I read somewhere that the Native American tribes with casinos require at least an X% amount of ancestry before they get the economic benefits from the casino. True, Not True?Depends on the tribe.

Ralph....I mean, Debrun, listen closely. Whenever I use the words "or something" at the end of a sentence, it's a hint that I'm saying
something facitious and satirical. Stop quoting me when I use those words, ok dumbass? It's like the 3rd or 4th time already.

Well guppie, maybe you should start a new thread about Bush and his musings. I guess this one is about the election, and since Bush can't be re elected,
it's not about him.
On a side note, how dumb are some people? There is a George W. Bush living in the state of Washington, and there was a story about him in our local paper saying people call him all the time and yell at him about decisions the president has made like he's the real one. I mean, do people really think the president of the US has a publicly listed number and lives in Kent, Washington? |
