Some things I found looking around the JokersUpdates board:

- Since cast and crew will be leaving March 22nd from Los Angeles (LAX), anyone in the area would probably be able to catch a glimpse of them at the Tom Bradley International Terminal.

- Casting calls were also done through a website called Actors Access, for both contestants and a host.

- Regarding the host:

"There were quite a few 'professional extras' in the early line. Apparently there was an announcement on it on some website for actors that posts jobs. One of them even said that the audition script for The Mole hosting job was also on that website. It contained the introduction of the first task (and also where this season will start). I left as he pulled out a copy of the script that he printed.

They told us that they have not cast the host yet and that this season would have 11 players (10 contestants, one Mole -- which matched the Host script). The show pays very well...the first one executed will still get $5,000. The Mole will get approximately $50,000 (so it sounds like everyone gets a flat $5,000 for every episode they are still in the game)."

- Regarding the first task:

"The first challenge sounds like so much fun. Very tiring, but the contestants will have fun doing it."

- Regarding why the show was cancelled:

"Supposedly there was some kind of conflict with negotiating overseas rights for The Mole (specifically with the U.K.). Those negotiations fell through and so did plans for upcoming seasons of The Mole. From the way it was described, it sounded like there was a problem because the UK & US versions were so similar, that Mole US wasn't wanted in the UK market (meaning no more money for ABC). I might have interpreted the situation incorrectly, though."

mole3applicant1: I actually came across this information by originally searching for Mole videos on the Internet. One link led to another and I found that information. As for where that quote originated, it was from a poster on the JokersUpdates board, who also provided the rest of the information I included in my post. Looking through his previous post history, he seems legit.

Kenneth: In regards to the whole 11 contestants thing, some people are speculating that one of them will be a former contestant, more specifically, a past mole (Bill). Their speculation comes from the rumored title of the new season, "The Mole 5: The Saboteur's Return" that first surfaced on Wikipedia. While rumors like these from Wikipedia are often discarded, I believe it holds some weight, since this piece of information was first posted on the site in mid August (right around the time that Stone & Co. regained rights to the show). When this happened, no press release was given by the production company, so how did the person who posted that information know? My guess is that it was someone close to the company trying to stir up interest in the show early. Or "The Saboteur's Return" could just be referring to the return of The Mole (the show), who knows.

And given the 10-episode order, the number of contestants makes sense:
