Anyhoo...I stumbled on this show last night and saw the first 2 episodes. Gretchen Wilson chewing tobacco is not a shock given her self-proclaimed redneckedness, however it is a disgusting addiction - especially in a woman. I was shocked, however, at how much weight Mo and Carney have put on. Not shocked at Bobby Brown's behavior. Don't care about Iglesias' spawn or Sisco. Dee is mildly amusing. Diana is going to win this. While Country has it's fair share of fugs the trend is toward reasonably good-looking people with a killer voice. That would be Diana. So do they vote people off on this show? How is the winner determined? And where is Big?? |

Great episode last night. Glad that JR made the announcement at the end about the little girl doing better.
I cried my eyes out during the show. Julio is so beautiful. I love Maureen. She's so sweet. |

I can totally see that Mo might have just been commenting...but it was a weird thing to have in the show, imo. It's like the editing was trying to steer us in a certain direction. She was attacked by many of the 'morality police' type groups for the song, and dropped it from her concerts, if I am remembering correctly. I think the song was called "skoal ring" (referring to that ring you get on your back pocket from carrying it around). Personally, I would NOT kiss anyone who uses the stuff. Not even if he were the hottest guy on earth. |

Bobby Brown is revolting, and farting in Carnie's face, doing nothing but getting drunk. I hope they quit putting him on reality shows. I was interested
in this to see them singing not doing stupid cleaning out a barn, etc. Diana would have no trouble getting a country recording contract, and having a career
in country, she should be very successful, the only thing is her getting dynamite songs to do.

You know what I really like about this program as opposed to something like The Surreal Life is that the celebs can't get away with much--they pretty much
have to go along with the activities because they are vying for "the prize"--a recording contract. They have to tame down their egos or they risk
losing something they want. There have been a couple of times when someone did not participate like Maureen singing in front of the audience and Bobbi got
drunk and didn't finish the one challenge, but it seems like they are more locked into participating and behave better because of it.

Just caught the finale.
All of the songs were good, but Dee's was great. Bobby's was surprisingly excellent - an instant hit if it's released. The winner? |

I thought Dee was AMAZING and he was very "Music Mafia" and they would totally break barriers if they had him tour/record with them. I thought Diana was GREAT, Carnie sounded good and was just so at ease, Mo did wonderful and BOBBY OMG BOBBY ... yea he did great and I can't help but think that John Rich will take care of him somehow. I can't stand the ending though. I am just so totally turned off with it. |

WHY THE FUCK DID HE CHOOSE IGLESIAS??? He ripped on Degarmo last week for not being country enough, and then he chooses THAT? WTF? He only chose him
because the women were VOAPing over him.
That said, I really like Bobby Brown. Not as a country singer, but as a person. I hope he gets his drinking under control too, because he seems to have a great personality and sense of humor. I'm still cracking up at "Dee finally moved his bed out of the bathroom. Get a clue!" lolol I've always thought he was such a stupid asshole, but for the first time, I can at least see what Whitney saw in him. I could never figure that out before. |

Completely agree with what you all said. I thought the winner sucked and had the LEAST country-sounding song out of all of them. I liked Mo's and Bobby's the best, along with Carnie's and Dee's. Nice little mini-series but the finale outcome sucked. |

I caught the last few eppies, and had the same wtf reaction at the winner. Julio's song wasn't bad but it was NOT COUNTRY at all. I figured he was
out of the running since the gals in the audience were having a boy-band style reaction to him. That's not country...it's teenybopper.
Bobby did well and all, but the song wasn't all that memorable...I can't recall how it goes already.

The bellyaching about Diana was a tad unfounded if you take a gander at some female singers in the genre who do the same kind of vocalizing (see Martina McBride).Oh, ITA! I immediately thought of Martina when JR said that. I thought he was the pot calling the kettles black any time he said someone wasn't country enough anyway. Diana said it best when she said that country music nowdays is almost pop anyway. I would like to see the lyrics of Bobby and Dee's songs written out. I couldn't catch them while they sang, but it seems like they'd be really good. I'd have chosen either Dee or Diana if I'd been JR. Julio Jr was a ridiculous choice, imo. |
