Hello everyone. I'll attempt to reply to as many comments as I can in this break between classes. I'm very happy to see that so many of you commented so quickly and that everyone seems to have really enjoyed the episode. :)

I will begin with chapera rocks. Thank you very much for your comments, and for being one of the first commenters. :)

Thanks. I enjoyed the Tribal Council too, and dare I say that they'll be one more that's just as good / really dramatic. Maybe not as suspenseful but the impact will be important.

Why did Erik switch his vote, even though he had immunity?

I knew this would be the big question this week, and the fact is that there is not a great reason to it. I consider it to be one of the big mistakes that was made in this episode and Erik possibly would get the award for stupidest move in the episode. I will explain a little bit about Erik's entire decision though just to maybe clarify a few things:
- so that
1) In the last episode, after Erik and Sherea had the argument, he said he felt "distanced" from her and he might side with Frosti and Dave
2) But then James got blindsided and Erik wasn't sure what would happen - Dave assured him that Leslie was going to be next
3) Then Frosti admitted to having the Immunity Idol and Erik said that he didn't like the fact that Frosti had the advantage, but he wanted to keep Zhan Hu together until Leslie and Denise were both gone ---that gives him a possible reason to vote out Leslie/Sherea/Frosti
4) Then Dave changes the vote from Leslie to Sherea -- Erik is a little annoyed with her and she is seen as expendable since Frosti/Erik/Dave would still have a majority over Leslie and Denise
5) Plus, Sherea eliminated the Zhan Hu people in the challenge was something that I didn't really have the room to elaborate on, but it was another factor in why things got changed to her, so that's primarily why Erik agreed to go for Sherea - but he still wasn't sure
6) Then Sherea goes to Erik and says Frosti is being blindsided, which complicates his decision even more - again, he begins to worry about the Immunity Idol but he already gave his word to Frosti and Dave, so he wonders how he can keep his word to both of them
7) Well, he theoretically could have voted for Leslie, making it 3 for Frosti, 2 for Sherea, 1 for Leslie - Frosti would have been blindsided and the idol would be gone, but then he breaks his word to Dave and with Dave being powerful, he could easily take out Erik next
8) The vote ends in a tie and now Erik has to decide whether or not to change his vote. Not knowing that anyone else would switch, he could vote out Sherea again, expecting a tie and eliminating either Leslie or Denise (like he originally wanted to) or Dave
9) But thinking about it, Frosti has the Immunity Idol, has done well in challenges, and with only a few Immunities left, if Frosti wins one, it guarantees him two extra spots and there's not many places for Erik, so Erik decides he should vote out Frosti now (not expecting anyone else to change), thereby keeping his word to both sides at one time, and having the excuse of the tie to vote out Frosti; Sherea would be dislikd by the jury and less of a threat comparatively
10) So he changes his vote to Frosti, not expecting anyone else to change, but obviously his plan backfired, which is why he was surprised bc he didn't know everyone else who was vulnerable got scared too and switched their votes

I hope that explains a little bit about Erik's decision and clears up some of the questions. Thanks for asking about it. :)

No tones at all? I haven't given much thought to it myself, but I think that'd be kindof interesting to see an episode where the editing was all very neutral/flat despite it being considered one of the best episodes yet. I personally thought that Sherea and Frosti both might be negative, Denise and Leslie are leaning positive, even Erik had some negativity. And Dave seems negative all the time, so I would agree that this episode might be more neutral for him. But thank you for your ratings because I pretty much agree with who you've given CP to compared to MOR. I'm interested to see what the consensus ends up as.

This episode was so awesome! I seriously didn't think it would result in Denise leaving I was pretty sure it would be Sherea. I kind of would of liked to see Frosti go, again I am not liking him at all. I am a bit confused by the tie thing, so did everyone change their votes? That is fricking hilarious if they did. Awesome challenges. I enjoyed reading the Reward it was nice and easy to follow. The immunity was too. The best quote of the episode would be this part:

I chose to show Denise's vote because it ultimately led to her being eliminated, but the reasoning was pretty much the same across the board, except for Erik, whose decision I explained above. I'm glad you felt that the Reward was easy to follow as well, and the Immunity. I also felt that b both challenges were an improvement in this episode and that they were unusually easy to read. And thanks for finding that quote to be funny. I personally enjoyed it as well and I'm glad you picked it out. I hope you enjoy the last two episodes. :)

WOW!!! This is easily the best episode you've written in a while ( Possibly the best ever, it may just have the edge over the Cook Islands episode with the 'what will you give up immunity for?' challenge). The amount of strategy was kept to a minimum despite the insane plots and ideas that were thrown out there. We even saw some of the survival aspect of the show, with the rain and the flood, which is often lost later on in the season as you get used to the surroundings. The tension was built up so well from the start, from bidding on mystery items in the auction (lol at Sherea losing out once more), to having Frosti tell everyone in the shelter about the Idol, to the decision to vote him out, and then to vote Sherea out. That would have been a great episode, but that wasn't it!

Tribal Council was so riddiculously tense, going in I thought that maybe Erik would vote for Leslie (So Frosti would go home but he wouldn't have voted against either him or Sherea, thus keeping both 'alliances') but as soon as there was a tie, I knew that we would be seeing the purple rock come out, which was confirmed by us seeing Denise switch her vote (which wouldn't have happened if she were the only one that switched). But it wasn't just two that switched, it was all four! Suddenly, it was either Dave (who edgically needs to make the finale or lose out on the lies until his story arc ends), Leslie or Denise, and I thought that Leslie was toast becuase she had spent the whole episode being happy that it wasn't her next. For Denise to go, although it makes sense now, was a huge shock, because she didn't have much visibility in the episode until the very end (although I'm still rooting for Leslie, so it was a pleasant surprise). And it really was a great way for Denise to go.
All in all, well done on a great episode, perfectly rounded off and with a great ending. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Might I add, that this is the first time that your final five doesn't contain a single member of the final five from the real show! I know that you couldn't have planned this, but it nonetheless is a testament to how well you have developed these characters, because this season is now looking more unpredictable than the real China season. Well done!

10- I've been saving the full 10 for two seasons now, waiting for the episode that would be just perfect, and this is it. Now we need to aim for above ten, so if the finale is perfect, and its a double episode, can I go up to 20? :)

Maybe just what Jeff's thoughts on the vote-switching would have been. He was probably the only person who would have been more shocked than the viewers, and not since Pearl Islands have people swapped sides so quickly!

Nobody (except maybe Frosti, but both edgically and logically a Frosti win is almost impossible). At this point, it looks like we would be getting a really unique winner either in Leslie, the underdog (who didnt' just win immunity like JP) or in Dave/Sherea the quote unquote 'bad guys'. Erik, however, I'm still concerned about. He is very reminicent of Ethan, and even of Brandon from your Guatemala season. To me, this is why I see Leslie as having a better chance.

Frosti (assuming that he can still use the idol at the final four,

Erik - 8 (His story is really picking up now. Last week I was still unsure of whether or not I like him, but now I do. It's a pity that he wasn't visible enough to be established as a major character earlier in the season, because it really takes a good few episodes to polarise viewers' opinions of a character, for example, Dave and Sherea)

1. Leslie- She's been the best pick from the start, and she had cooldown at the right time.
You've said that your mistake in Exile Island was not having an underdog win. I believe that we will see this rectified at the end of China.

Also, as mentioned above, he is very much like Ethan and even Brandon, except that he doesn't have as much tone early on (only one P before the merge). And I know that you like to have your winners all be unique.

In the past, you've purpousefully 'bended' edgic rules (known final 2 pair, INV for the winner, etc) and so Sherea is still an option just like Stacy was in Fiji.

ETA- I just noticed that Sherea was above Erik on the contenders list last episode. Althought this strikes me as odd (I don't remember that many people putting Sherea above Erik), is is perhaps proof not to rule her out... just in case.

Great episode, GF! One of my favorites! Leslie and Denise's underdog story continued, Frosti's cockiness flowed into the revelation of the HII, which totally turned the strategy on it's head. Dave's heart got in the way of his strategy, Erik was stuck between alliances, and Sherea decided to change things up. Plus, the Tribal Council was great, oh man, that was awesome. What were the chances that they all switched their vote? It just shows how little these people actually care about each other. Friendships aren't being offered, only alliances are.

The Tribal Council was awesome. I mean, all four of them switched their votes? There is going to be a lot of kicking themselves in the butts when they get back to camp! And the fact that Frosti, my least favorite, almost went was cool. I hope he goes soon.

And I totally, rarely ever give those out. It really was a great episode.

Dave - CPM4 (An obvious CP, he gets both positive from backing Leslie and Denise, but negative from dissing Erik and Frosti.)

Denise - CPP4 (She had basic, strategic comments and gets the positive from her underdog, rage against "the man" spirit. )

Frosti - MOR3 (I could see a negative tone, but he stayed pretty neutral, I must say. I could even see a CP. He was hard to classify, but I think a toneless MOR is the best bet.)
