Dena Higley will probably have EJ set this all up so that Sami can dump him for Lucas when he returns.

Oh god no. I seriously think Dena is auditioning for the job of headwriter and doesn't have it locked up. Ed Scott has TONS of contacts and could bring in an excellent headwriter anytime Corday says the word. Corday didn't fire Hogan FOR Dena. He fired Hogan because this was his opportunity. The strike is wrapping up and they just hit the Force Majure time clause so he had to act quickly. Now he does not have to pay Hogan out his contract which he would have if he fired him after the strike was over or before it was three months into the strike.

As for Dena, I know she is a hack writer - oh boy do I know it from watching the show lately - but I think she is a relatively decently intelligent woman and can understand that 2.7 is a better rating than 1.9 which is what Lumi got headlining the show last year. On OLTL, she was smart enough to move on from Jessica/Antonio for Jessica/Nash. Although she took her sweet ass time!!!

I think it is rather fitting that the writer who begat Lumi is the one to finish them off.

The way EJami were written in the Friday US episode, I seriously think Dena is writing for EJami as the couple. This time for them on the backburner is to finish off Lumi and get the Lucas character off the screen gradually so they can have a fresh start when he's really gone for two months.

It may have been a good choice for EJami longrun but bad for Feb. sweeps. I haven't been watching in real time. I record it and watch it when I get around to it ~ don't watch any episodes they are not in. I have TIVO and I heard if you watch it before 2am the next day, it counts in the ratings. If that's true, they've lost what used to count from me. Not sure if that's true though or just an urban legend passed around and around now.

I am glad the Sheffer era is over. He nearly ruined what could be the best thing to hit Days since Jack/Jennifer back in the early 90s. That's how long it's been for them without generating another bonafide supercouple. Shelle is a big bust due to the recasts. Also, his portrayl of women is insulting and disgusting. He nearly ruined the Hope character and has finished off the Marlena character. He made it very hard for people to like Stephanie the way he wrote her. Thankfully, Shelley is awesome and talented enough she can turn it around with her performances. Sheffer wrote his stories, be damned the characters! And you can't write that way for Days.

The show is so better off without him although Corday may have stuck with him too long and now it is too late to save Days beyond March 2009.

Ed Scott has said he has 0 say in casting decisions or behind the scenes stuff. He's strictly only in charge of production.

Hence the end of my sentence saying anytime Corday says the word. Scott can certainly point him in the direction of real talent when Corday decides he really wants to save the show.
