Best lines of the night I thought were between Coach and Julie at the opening about her driving test. Classic FNL. Gracie Belle: her work in the volleyball invasion was atrocious. They probably dangled a pic of L. Ron Hubbard in front of her to get those reax, just like they do with Juliette Lewis. They were discussing Tami in a mullet after all -- she's an infant, she could've easily gone with vomit and sold it.

Loved Mrs.Coach going down to the DMV & co-ercing the worker to let Julie take her drivers test, then she threw in "Do you like the Dillon Panthers?", thinking that was going to help her cause & he says back "No, I hate football". Just goes to show that not everyone is wrapped up in the fate of the high school football team. I also thought Landry's breakup was very touching. He was struggling with his dream girl vs. the "real" girl.... I agree with the other poster who said Tyra better not let him down!!

He still has his grandma though. I still think they have shown Matt's grandma seemingly getting better, when the opposite happens with Alzheimer's. They slowly get worse and worse. I know. I've lived it with my mom, who is now bedridden. Loved Tami talking the DMV guy into giving Julie the test. Gracie did seem to react to the vacation line. So cute! I like Landry with Tyra too, and also hope she doesn't hurt him. Poor Smash, at the end. So sad for him. Love this whole cast. Such a great ensemble!

Saracen's meltdown was great and coach's reaction to the pain he was feeling made him realize how strong Matt really is. Poor Lance, bum knee and his dream girl will eventually hurt him. I loved Riggin's line about always skipping on Wednesday. The Smash storyline is interesting and we'll see if Coach can get him back into TMU. That storyline just doesn't ring true because these schools will do anything to get or keep a star running back. TMU would rub out that white boy in the movie theater to keep Smash.

Let's face it - this is high school and one of them will get hurt. Even if he was with that butta face Jean girl he would still have drama. Either way, I like him better with Tyra... Hearing Riggins skips every Weds made me think he will fail and be in high school again next year...one more year of football (even though he has to pass to stay on the team). The chemistry book when Smash came in was the closest I have ever seen to him studying. That ex boyfriend dude was the 'love interest for Tammy' that the spoiler peeps were talking about. I don't see how Tammy could ever be interested in anyone but Coach! I love him! The Matt scene was sad. Everyone does leave him. I wonder who the chick is that is supposed to be preggers this season. Only one more ep to find out. Damn that sucks! Maybe the writer's strike ending this week or next will give us some more eps soon. This season is pretty much done though I imagine. I would like FNL to get another season. So here is to season 3!

Football is king in Texas and no Texas university with a serious football program would drop Smash (as talented as his character is supposed to be) over some bullshit like that. That said, the actors on this show are of such skill that I tend to overlook even the most contrived subplots. Felt sorry for both Smash and Saracen. Aimee Teegarden rocks.

Especially since the forfeit issue with the transferee quarterback and the Smash shit. You'd think the higher ups would have Dillon on notice no? - I like that the older chick/high school guy relationships broke bad. It became a little much - like, is EVERY kid at this school gonna bang a 30 year old? Not realistic. Glad they showed that bad things came of it. - Saracen scene was awesome. I really felt for the kid. For a 17 year old kid, he's got a lot on his plate. - Lots of abandonment in that town. Riggins parents, Matts parents, Buddy G and his family, Tyra's daddy, etc etc. - Julie needs to wear a chin strip. Sure she's got huge cans, but I've never seen a rack jiggle and shake like hers. Ever time she walks they bounce and bounce and bounce. Is she heavy in the midsection? She's always coving that area up. - Looks like Coach T is gonna whoop some Peter Berg ass next week. Man, for a guy who is such a good dude and always tries to do the right thing, he sure winds up in altercations a lot! - Graciebelle is the cutest ugly baby in the history of ever.

Actually If its anything like the school I coach at.....we have to get a week progress report from the Teachers every Wednesday, where the teachers fill out if they are doing satisfactory work or not... and if they are attending class or not....... Problem is if its a star Football player these teachers lie on these reports to keep them playing. I have found out a few of my Players had "deals" with a few teachers.... and in Texas where Football is THE entertainment... then yeah you dont want to be the teacher that is failing a star player....

Offical signing day for scholorships are usually in Feb.� Teams like to get Verbals first so that they know who else they need to target before offical signing day.� But any player can back out of a Verbal commitiment.� Its when you actually sign then yeah.... you can still transfer to any college you want but you would have to sit out a year before you can play football, unless the�Head Coach leaves then you can say you signed to be with him and that since the Coach left you signed under false pretenses....then the NCAA will let you transfer and play that same season..... Hope that helps�

Truly sublime! In all honesty, 99% of teenage boys would choose Tyra over the arsty gal every time. Call it the primal imperative. It usually takes years of experience to harness the singlemindedness of Mr. PurpleHead. Some never do. A teenage boy has no chance. The Smash storyline is tragic, even moreso because the writers have done such a good job of weaving Smash's character development within the great unresolved subtext of racism. Organic and inevitable. Nicely done. At first I thought that the writers were too obsessed with Aimee Teegarden's breasts this season. But like the elephant in the room, short of strapping them down, they can't be ignored and the honest reaction is that the people around her would be fascinated by them. Kudos to the writers for their honesty... the pervs! ;-) Agree with the above poster that Landry is a great piece of casting. Amongst the inevitable beautiful people - a nerd stud. Or is that geek? I can never get that right. I don't know what the FNL equivalent to Jericho's "nuts" would be, but I hope there is enough of a groundswell to bring back FNL for a third season. Inundate the suits at NBC with... ??? Whatever way the message can best be heard, this great drama needs to come back.

At a launch party for Lipstick Jungle at Saks last night, attended by a hot Lorraine Bracco, a crazy-looking Matthew Perry, and that guy who played Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore and whose name might as well be That Guy, we had the following conversation with boyish NBC Entertainment head Ben Silverman: Radar: Quick question! A lot of us are happy that you've kept Friday Night Lights on the air despite lousy ratings. It's totally the best show on TV. But is there going to be another season? Silverman: Do you watch 30 Rock? That's the best show on TV. *Not regularly. But what about FNL?* Start watching 30 Rock. It's the best show on TV. *I don't want to watch 30 Rock. I want to watch FNL. I love it.* I love it. You love it. Unfortunately, no one watches it. That's the thing with shows. People have to watch them. We're NBC, we have a reputation to uphold. And, man, with this writers' strike ... well, we'll see what we can do. But start watching 30 Rock. Don't say you were never warned. A few other things about Silverman: He was wearing a slim-cut navy suit with no tie and black loafers; he didn't stop smiling the entire time he was there, to the point where you wondered if he was always naturally "on" or if he was under some sort of medication; and he seemed to know about 80 percent of the females in the room, most of whom kissed him on the cheek, hugged him, or squealed "Hiiiii Ben!" when talking to him.
