If the states visited for the Family Edition don't matter, then chances are the states for a season nobody here that doesn't speak/understand Portugese
watched don't matter either.

TAR has had two legs in Japan. Tokyo (TAR9) and last season in Osaka.

kenc333 wrote: Saying that is as ignorant as saying "They have Thai food in Taiwain." (which, while I'm sure they do have some, isn't the sort of cuisine they're famous for) The republic of China has been independent since 1912, when they overthrew the Imperial system. Following World War II, however, the communists took over mainland China (becoming the PRC) and the original "Republic of China" was relocated to Taiwan, where they remain today. |

kenc333 wrote: The old Chinese Nationalist government fled to Taiwan when the Communist took over the Chinese mainland government back in 1949 as stated above. Since then the US has had a treaty with the Nationalist (who they supported in the civil war) to go to war with China should Taiwan be invaded by China. And since countless people would be killed and this could lead to World War III I find the ignorance about all this rather terrifying. China (Peoples Republic) vs Taiwan has been one of the biggest festering sores of the last half century and the US and China have been on the brink of war several times over this. China claims Taiwan as theirs. The gov't in Taiwan claims otherwise. Some of the ethnic Taiwanese claim that they and not the Nationalist Chinese who re-settled there should rule Taiwan. A major war could erupt over this unhealed scar and there are people posting on this board that are this clueless? And to who should care about TAR Asia? Anyone who has seen it would. Get out some and start the bit torrent downloading. It is first rate and TAR Asia 1 is one of my favorite most seasons. TAR Asia 2 is a mactor-filled casting horror by comparison but then some American TARs fall into that category as well. The production values of both shows are first rate and one of the original TAR associate producers is producing TAR Asia. Same theme music, shot in English so no subtitling reading needed, Bertram credited at the end, some really great locations and tasks. It should always be included in any TAR comparisons. Now TAR Brazil has the problem of not being in English nor even having English subtitles and not traveling outside Brazil in the main. Also the bit torrents dried up after episode 4 on the main web sites. So unless you understand Portuguese and could find copies somewhere using mIRC or something it would be hard to compare it with the other two. That I will give you. But TAR Asia? It is definitely an apples and apples with original TAR and is the same show as far as I'm concerned.

greenraven1 wrote: A hollow sentiment considering the backlash Seasons 7 & 8 received for not going around the world. Amazing Race Asia is okay, but it suffers from
being cheap. It took Amazing Race proper 2 episodes to fix the same kind of shoddy editing that TARA still has yet to fix. For all the complaints about
product placement in Amazing Race proper, each episode of TARA is as bad as the worst episode from Family Edition. More episodes and fewer teams means more
non-eliminations and To Be Continueds.
