Even when I first heard about Pirate Master, I knew it could never take over Survivor. I mean, Survivor is a big part of televsion history, and despite the
lower ratings, has a sizable cult following akin to Trekkies. PM could never attain such a reputation

It wasn't CBS that wanted to replace Survivor with Pirate Master. It was Mark Burnett's idea. Pirate Master would have been a cheaper show to produce
than Survivor is and Mark Burnett Productions would no longer have to pay royalties to Charlie Parsons.

I've heavily criticized the gloom and doomers over ratings since the day I joined this forum. I ranted non-stop at those people who moronically stated that Survivor was being replaced with PM after S16 before PM even aired a single episode. Oh Great Oracle Quid, please tell us just exactly when Survivor will finally end, and please give us details on how and why, etc. etc. tyia. Unlike the geniuses at this board who moan and cry over slightly dropping rating numbers (despite the ranking of the show overall and in its timeslot still staying relatively the same) and use that to proclaim that Survivor is being cancelled after S16 I will make no such prediction when the show would end. That would be out of character. As long as the ratings are there and the costs are low, the show isn't going anywhere. And FYI, if Pirate Master had succeeded, it most certainly would have inherited the 8pm Thursday timeslot of Survivor, if for some reason Probst and/or Burnett bailed on their show. If you honestly think that CBS would cancel Survivor rather than replace those two you have no concept whatsoever of how television works. I'm very happy with the news. But its no surprise to me. I'm not gonna sit by and let the haters and doomsayers go untouched from criticism when this news shows just how idiotic their nonscenscal predictions of Survivor cancellation were. |

I just don't know how Survivor will stay fresh without losing its integrity (which, after CI and Fiji, was hanging by a very small thread). The only
season since ASS to start off "normally" in terms of gameplay and tribal divisions was China, and that was mainly because the unique and well-known
location didn't really need special twists. Every other post-ASS season has started in some "special" way:
Vanuatu: Men vs. women Palau: Marooned without tribes Guatemala: Returning players Exile Island: Four tribes and Exile Island Cook Islands: Tribes divided by race Fiji: Haves vs. have-nots Micronesia: Fans vs. favorites Exactly what other gimmicks would they have at their disposal without re-using old ones or sacrificing some pretty crucial aspects of the game. I don't think EI, the HII, or the F3 have killed the show, but I don't think the format can take too many more hits. I'm curious to see what's gonna happen next. |

Survivor can end after they have a 19th season (IF it must end). Cause then i can at least apply for the show. Even if i didnt get on the show i would be
satisfied with at least being able to apply for the show.
Also survivor can still do different experiments with 3 tribes from the start, they can mix that all they want Tribe 1: Young People------------Men-----------------All-star winners-----------------------homosexual Tribe 2: Middle Aged People----Men & women-------All star players (non-winners)---------heterosexual Tribe 3: Older People------------Women---------------Newbies------------------------------bisexual the possibilities go on.
