Do they not give out screeners anymore like the good ol' days of VHS?

Screeners occasionally arrive; they'll be one copy of something usually not worth watching. Crash was one, but I believe the most recent ones were The Ex,
and The Matador. The rental copies usually arrive a week in advance, and sometimes two weeks. No Cloverfield yet. And I don't care since there's no
Blu-ray version anytime soon.

We watched this tonight in the hotel room. The TV is maybe three feet wide and two feet tall and is one of those thin things. At any rate, the screen is much
larger and much more detailed than our TV.
The movie made me queasy as hell but I liked it. If a sequel comes out I will need to wait until it comes on DVD and watch it on a smaller screen. I'm pretty sure I would have been one of those losers barfing in the ailse. |

DVD is out on Tuesday, I'm watching it now on my big HDTV. It's still making me uncomfortable.

There's director commentary, deleteds, alternate endings, outtakes, and some featurettes. I found one easter egg so far.
The HD was supposed to be jammed with goodies, so hopefully that'll all be on the Blu-ray if it ever comes out. |

The deleted scenes are useless and the outtakes aren't anything to write home about.
There are two alternate endings. On the first, the only difference is the Coney Island footage; instead of the Ferris wheel shot, it's a shot of Beth hurrying up a ramp or walkway at Coney Island, and either her or Rob says the "had a good day" line. On the second, everything is the same as the final ending, except after the final explosion and the camera starts to freeze and skip, you then hear Beth shout "Rob!", and then there are a few frames of what can only be described as someone finding the camera. There is a bright light, chatter on a walkie-talkie, and a middle-aged male face barely visible through the rubble on the lens. He looks a bit like Dennis Hopper to me. Then it cuts to the Ferris wheel scene which plays out as normal. I finally saw the satellite crash, I'm not sure how anyone can see it on the bootleg clips online. ETA: oh and it has the trailers for Star Trek and Indy 4, if you're one of the four people on Earth who hasn't seen those. They're both the same except Trek now says "Summer 2009" to reflect the schedule change.

I guess its already been mentioned that the creature's size & face changes.
If this movie made you dizzy, you might want to skip Speed Racer. Btw, the South Park guys are doing a giant monster movie. Really. "Robert Smithera...Robert Smithera" |
