I loved the UK version. I haven't seen the US one though.

Moorpark spelled backwards is Krap Room. is there a specific definition for a funny but not precise palindrome? there should be, and this one qualifies... |

Just watched last week's show and it SUCKED. The editing was either done horrible or the entire show was a lie. Ramsey stormed off during the re-luanch
night, but the tables had no table cloths and the door had the white dollie style window treatment on it in his storm out scene. This was days earlier
obviously. A couple of other small things but the fight was either not that night or the footage was shoot out of order. WTH. Way too sloppy for me.

I didn't care for that eppy either. I'm tired of the editors manufacturing the drama - they should just let the story unfold.
Gordon also had a cameo in the Extras finale, btw. He was called a "cook" by Ricky Gervais. It was great. |

only slightly OT:
Just noticed an ad for this UK special as I was reading about Doherty and Winehouse on the Sunday Mirror site. http://www.channel4.com/food/on-tv/cookalong-live/index.html Apparently Gordo is going to cook live on TV and they're giving out ingredient/prep lists beforehand and signing up viewers who intend to cook-along for webcam broadcasts. Also there are some master class Gordo videos to get folks ready which might be fun. Lucky Brits get this and we don't. ::cries:: makes note to self to look for torrents/youtubes of this after the 18th. Oh and the scene between Ramsey and Ricky Gervais at the London Ivy was the best part of the finale. I was barking laughing and rewound at least twice for the delicious enjoyment of it. |

Anyone catch the season 4 opener of the UK version tonight? It was pretty good. I forgot how good the UK version is compared to the US version.

I watched the new BBC show last night. That guy was just as delusional and fiesty as the people on the US version. He was facing homelessness, mortgaged way
beyong the value of his house and he didn't want to make any changes. He must be sleeping with the artist that did all those Jackson Pollack rip offs.

I saw that. Just another delusional idiot who digs his feet in and refuses to see that there's a problem...even though he contacted the show to get help
because he was going under.
I don't get these people. I really don't. The only thing I didn't agree with was the change of name for the restaurant, although it was a clever play on words. |

These people's Ego's are so wrapped up in their business that they have completely lost the plot. That is to Make Money… Then they all get into denial about it…
It's like those people on that A&E show "Intervention" where virtually every addict is like, "I know what I'm doing…I can stop whenever I want…Everyone is against me."
As I see it, Ol' Gordo, bypasses the "Intervention" and goes straight to the detox. |

The UK version is sooooo much better than the crap Fox puts on. I had to laugh when the owner was getting upset because Gordon said the paintings looked like
crusty knickers.

The think I enjoy about this version is that I get to see Gordon in his element whereas in the US he is like a fish out of water. He commands more respect there because he's like a national treasure there. And as a person that loves to travel and learn about different places, it is more interesting to me. |

Agreed. There is just something special about the UK version that cannot translate. Although, I have to agree that this first episode was a tad like what we
saw this summer in the US version. Wasn't sure that I liked that too much, but I think the fact that he is better respected overseas makes me overlook all
of that.

This is series 5, although there's a few revisited places in it from series 4:

Thought so. Searched for some torrents and noticed Series 5 eps were up.
