Lol it took me like two weeks to get it after sending it in.

And it took me 4 months. With the express option. The passport psycho-crisis has been well-documented in the news since a while back -- some get lucky, most
have not. Fact remains, if you don't already have one and you're not in-process, don't bother -- they're not going to take the chance.

Birdlady, I don't take too much offense to that. I can assure you though, if you are from Texas, you can go on vacation.... and still be in Texas. Many
times people from Dallas/Ft. Worth go to San Antonio and vice versa. As a college kid pinching pennies, the only time I'll ever need a passport is to go
down to Mexico to get my party on, although here lately they are allowing people to go down with just a driver's license and two other forms of
identification until the passport nightmare is done with.
The application says you just need to have applied for a passport. I have had several family friends who have recently got a passport in about a week by going to Houston and paying some extra fee. I know that sounds insane, but it is the truth. Do you guys have any inkling as to whether or not they will add any more casting calls? Historically, have they revised the open casting call list afterwards, or would y'all think it is pretty much set? |

Passport is easy to get but apply now if you want within next 6 weeks. If you have a problem taking longer than it should call your Congressman. They cut
through red tape it's their job, it actually is a lot easier than it used to be but it can get lost so if you don't get it back don't wait to last
minute. You need one now anyway if you plan on traveling outside the US makes things a lot easier. You need them to get Visas as well so its a good thing to
have though it is expensive.

Dallas Casting Calls | ||
|
I checked CBS 11 today no posting for a casting call, but that doesn't mean they wont have one. I have been to every casting call in DFW since Survivor 9,
they have them for every season. I noticed that some of the ones listed on the CBS site are January 26 which is after the application is due. Keep checking CBS
11 Web site. Good luck but don't quit your job especially if you are a bartender. The last one was in GP. I posted pictures at Survivor Wiki. There were
not a lot of people there and it didn't take long.
Be prepared practice in front of a camera or other people I like it better when they have it at bars cause people get drunk and do stupid shit. Speaking of shit does anyone know of any of the SuperFans (LOL) can any be identified as posting with any of the major fan boards? Oh by the way going to all the casting calls and applying to every season don't make you a SuperFan. I am still trying to figure out what does. Oh and if I offended anyone... Good. I like titty dancers to po chop I was just trying to make a point and at least I know you read my post. We can't hide anymore me you or LP they know who we are. If they look at there own website. |

So you believe that they will most likely still hold a casting call? I would have no problem at all going to Dallas for one. As long as I didn't have to
have a passport for it. That's the big thing. Anyway, have you ever heard of people contacting CBS 11 for them to hold it?

Hey, I thought I'd let you know, I wrote to CBS 11 and got this response:
"Thanks for writing. We will not be holding a local casting call for theOh well. |

The last one they had didn't have anyone there. It was a Dodge Dealer and very boring. No turn out. Probably because everyone figured out they don't
have a rats ass chance of being selected unless they live in LA and know someone. If you want to go to an open casting call go to one of the CBS web sites
closer to you. San Antonio, Austin, College Station or Houston. All I can say about open casting calls is practice in front of People and Cameras so you look
natural. Be yourself and if you get picked don't quit!!

I contacted the one here in College Station, I will be contacting Houston/Austin soon. I sure hope they will host one! Where are you located? The metroplex?
My hometown is a little south of the metroplex.

I'm sure I will get blasted for this but I had to come out of lurkerdom because I need to get noticed by the casting director. I know it has been
discussed 1000 times and nobody ever has a definitive answer but are there casting people at the open call or is it just local CBS affiliate employees?
I saw that Erika Shay's myspace page says "thinking about a weekend in phoenix." (fully admit to being a stalker). There is an open call in Phoenix this weekend, do you think that is just a coincidence? Or maybe she isn't even talking about this weekend but I will go if she is going to be there. Does anyone know how I can find out? |

I went to one in the DFW area during the summer for S16 at a Dodge Dealership. Pretty boring, I was in and out in under an hour. I dont think there are any
survivor related people there, just some CBS flunkies who film your tape for you and take your application and send it in. I wouldnt be shocked if they just
threw them all away. The application says you can send in a 3 minute video, but the casting call only let you do a one minute video.
I kinda decided to 'audition' since I had the day off work, so I printed out an application, filled it out quick and went down there. I turned in the form and had printed out the "express pass" that lets you skip ahead of people in line. There were some guys from a local radio station 'hosting' it where they would get people up to do their best "survivor yell," whatever the hell that means and answering trivia about CBS11 anchors. Then when they call your group to go film your tapes, you walk up like 3 flights of steps into this reception room, they assign you a room to film your audition tape. You tape it in pretty much an empty room (basically double the size of a walk in closet) and you have pretty much no options to improv with. Like I said, you only get a minute, so you basically introduce yourself and say "I should be on survivor because I'm a---" and thats about it. Pretty lame. I knew none of the people there had a shot at it.....and I was one of the more attractive looking people there and I knew it was just a waste of time instantly when I walked in the door. If I apply again (I'm maybe gonna rush in an app. for S17), I'm definitely doing it myself, because the video and application you do through the casting calls will get no ones attention unless they've got a Survivor Application Video Tape Viewing OCD. |

I think sometimes a casting director is there and sometimes there isn't. Was it last season or the season before that the casting call page at CBS listed
which locations would have a casting director there?

Casting Calls | ||

I live in DFW metroplex Arlington. They don't even look at my app anymore think they chunk it in the garbage on arrival. I went to that casting call and
they were kind of rude like they couldn't be bothered vastly different then other casting calls which were a lot of fun. I sucked at that one kind of threw
me off when they said one min I was torn between what to say and telling him to go fuck himself. Casting calls can be a double edged sword it is very easy to
choke if you are not prepared thats why I say practice in front of friends and or camera so you are at least comfortable if i was to travel long distance to an
open Casting call I would go to one in LA or Santa Monica since thats where most contestants live near. Does anyone know when those casting calls are?

Biggest Fans | ||
|
If you look at where most loyal fans are according to SEG they live disproportionately in California. I suppose they move there to be near Jeff and Mark. And
while they are out there they take up bar tending and acting. I think casting agents must spend a lot of time in bars cause even on BB lot of smoking and
drinking going on. The number of gainfully employed survivors is low. Usually lawyers and people who can leave their jobs and no one will miss them. Other wise
students minimum wage earners etc, bartenders and titty club dancers. The unemployed they make up occupations for like actor, model or whatever. Good Luck but
don't set yourself up for disappointment.

Casting Calls | ||

One more thought on casting calls. American Idol had 13000 people show up in Dallas. Survivor maybe 300. Three years ago I saw 500 in first couple hours. Why
the decline? Because people are smart they know that they are not really being considered which is why Idol out performs Survivor in the ratings. The grandaddy
of Reality TV sold out to Casting Agency. You can't get an interview much less time on TV it is better to get insulted on TV by Simon then to get berated
as same old uninteresting applicants by Probst and Spellman. Idol manages to find Real talent every season from the street no Hollywood insiders friends. The
contestant pool has dwindled because they are ignored. They don't believe in reality. On Apprentice they have resorted to using Celebrities. It's
easier and less risky and consequently sacrificing ratings and fans for comfortable casting of non reality programing.
|
|||
BtvsVamp |
|||

Well I think the Apprentice casted celebrities because the show was nearly canceled at the end of their last season and they figured maybe these celebrities
would boost ratings. I mean look at the no names that are usually on Dancing with the Stars and retards watch that show.
If you look at China there was about 5 or 6 who actually applied, or so we think. Jaime, Todd, Denise, Amanda (though I think being a beauty queen helped her), Chicken, and Leslie. |
|||
facoweetribe |
Chicken | ||
|
Chicken knew someone he had a connection. Todd was pandering to all the whining Canadians. Amanda was hot. But just because someone makes a tape and
application doesn't mean they didn't have an inside connection. I am not claiming that people who apply don't get on but they claim 800 interviews.
How many are from previous season applications. I realize that they want good looking people that are interesting but how many bartenders do we have to see?
How is that an interesting occupation. People applying to Idol have a real chance of getting their mug on TV whether they have talent of not. Survivor
doesn't really require talent neither does Big Brother. Evil Dick another bartender abused his way to the final calling everyone a liar among other names
and claiming he was honest. Really I doubt there is anyone that applies that couldn't play the game. It's not that hard. The hardest part is not eating
or drinking but you don't have control over that. People losing interest in applying might be harbinger for people losing interest in the show.

no more reality | ||

I (like many of you) have applied numerous times (sent in the video and went to casting calls) and I also don't consider myself ugly, uneducated or
unworthy of being on the show. They do not want "real" people - they want what they have been casting - actors, models etc... They won't go
back to the way they used to cast - it takes tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch timmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmme and
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for a group to review all those tapes, hold the interviews and the list goes on. It is much more cost effective for the
"group" to go out drinking, wander around and find someone to be on the show or to just call a casting agent. It's like everything else -
it's called outsourcing - why should they do all the hard work, when all they have to do is contact an agent. In CA there is a plethera of actors, models,
agents and almost everyone wants to be on TV. They do throw in a few people from elsewhere - but a majority have a tie in CA. Honestly, it's a crock.
