Bye Bye Golden Globes!
NBC And Hollywood Foreign Press Cancel Televised Golden Globes Hoopla; Show Will Be Scrapped In Favor Of Stripped Down News Event source The Hollywood writers strike can now claim its first awards show casualty. I'm hearing from my sources that NBC will not be broadcasting a big Golden Globes show as planned for January 13th. Nor will a much ballyhooed unbroadcasted event be held, either. Instead, a stripped down announcements telecast will be aired by NBC News. It will consist of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association handing out Golden Globes to the winners, who will then pick up the awards and pass through a press room for photos and interviews. "It'll now be a news event where the actors can still get all glammed up," a source told I've not yet received any official confirmation of any of this. But insiders tell me that NBC Universal topper Jeff Zucker and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association which bestows the Golden Globes made the decision together to scale everything back. |

Rumer has it that the Globes have been canceled.
UPDATE: NBC And Hollywood Foreign Press Cancel Televised Golden Globes Hoopla; Big Show Scrapped In Favor Of Stripped Down News TelecastThe Hollywood writers strike can now claim its first awards show casualty. I'm hearing from my sources that NBC will not be broadcasting the big Golden Globes show as planned for January 13th. Nor will even a full frills unbroadcasted dinner party be held, either. Instead, a stripped down news telecast will be aired exclusively by NBC News from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, site of what was supposed to be the big show, where the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will announce the Golden Globe winners who won't be present in the room. Here's what will happen next: The nominees -- actors, directors, writers, producers, etc -- will have a Red Carpet event outside the Beverly Hilton. Then they'll go inside and attend all the various Golden Globes anal sex parties already planned for each film and TV show. The winners will have the choice of swinging by an HFPA table to pick up their awards and then strolling into a press room for photos and interviews. "It'll now be a news event where the actors can still get all glammed up," a source told me. I've not yet received any official confirmation of any of this. But insiders tell me that NBC Universal topper Jeff Zucker and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association which bestows the Golden Globes made the decision together to scale everything back into a news event. |

I blame Rumer actually. She scared everyone away.
Love the Nelson Muntz, Krista! |

Disappointing. I love the red carpet and seeing the gowns and how they are all fixed up. The writers/producers are getting more annoying by the minute.
Instead of ruining the show, NBC/Globes should have waited to have the show until the strike is over, and NBC should do something to have the strike be over. AA's should wait to have the show as well rather than cancel it. Just makes the suspense last longer. The Globes could probably get their shindig together with a couple of week's time when the strike is over. But to butcher it and make it into a "Dateline" is stupid.

Julia Roberts decided not to go because she was going to lose to Cate Blanchett. Clooney is going to lose to McAvoy or Day-Lewis.
Here's who is going to win TV Jonathan Rhys Meyers, The Tudors Minnie Driver, The Riches Ricky Gervais, Extras America Ferrera, Ugly Betty (yay America...we get one) Andy Serkis, Longford Rachel Griffiths, Brothers & Sisters Jim Broadbent, Longford Ruth Wilson, Jane Eyre GoldenGlobes are a joke in yo town |

DDL's is going to sweep the whole thing, they love him anyway, but he gave them another reason to give him his second Oscar. One of these years Johnny D
will get his, you know they want to give it to him.

Now supposedly even the one hour award announcements has been scrapped.

They should just issue a press release listing the winners and be done with it. |

All "hey there's a positive side to the strike!" jokes aside, it's starting to sink in...no Golden Globes show. No drunken speeches. No bad
dresses. No meeting of tv/movie personalities, side by side.
No "who the hell is this Associated Press, anyway?" Moments. The Golden Globes are way more fun than the Oscars. |

And NBC just lost one of its biggest ratings cash cows, which will drive down the amount they can charge advertisers, losing them tens of millions of dollars
over the next 11 months.

It says now they will read the "list of winners" at 6 pm PST, and it will be read with all the networks present from CNN to NBC, so guess we can just
turn on any station then. So it doesn't even sound like they will open any envelopes, just read a list.
The writers and the networks have ruined the best live show of the year. Thanks a lot. |

Everyone calm down. I can see we're all very excited for tonight, but if everyone keeps posting at once, I'll be completely unable to keep up.

SI they're actually going to call you with the results. They're gonna transfer you to the phone on the table in the hall. The little table, with the
lamp on it--the lamp that we moved from the corner? The BLACK phone, not the brown phone.

So, the big announcement is tonight? Now I'm starting to get angry with these damn writers. I don't care if TV shows aren't on, but now they're
fucking with my award shows!!

I should mention for West Coast viewers that this is not time delayed this year. It's actually going to start at 4pm, with the "press conference"
at 6.
