I'm really interested to see what if any effect this will have on her campaign. Was it Edmund Muskie who cried about something during the primaries and got
crucified for it? Which election was that, 1972?

I think they went after Muskie's wife and that's what caused him to become emotional.

This is what being in the public spotlight for 16 years does. Everyone has an opinion of her. No one's opinion of her will change. And unfortunately for
her, people don't like her that much. Simple as that.
McCain's interesting, because he whored himself out to the establishment to get to this place, but people have only started to come around to him again when he's gone back to the things that people liked about him in 2000. The thing about an Obama-McCain showdown I like? They're the 2 best candidates on either side, and both have been very civil towards the other in interviews. They worked together on the senate ethics legislation. People can bitch about this primary system being "broken" all they want, but it has been partially responsible for Hillary's downfall, and for that we should all be thankful. Had this system existed in 2000, McCain might have been the nominee. I think it's actually turned into a net positive. Only thing we really need to change about it now is to have everyone move their dates back 2 months in unison so we're not campaigning in Christmastime again. |
