So the character Lucy from "The Practice" is employed again - that's the only thing I picked up from the show. I hate the wimpy husband routine, again, and the "I don't have luck with men so I turn lesbian" is getting old.

I could only give it ten minutes. Such a blah cliche rendition of SATC.

God, this show was bad. I mean it looked bad from the previews, but I never thought it would be as bad it really was. And the redux of the Sex and the City
crew complete with matching hair colors and personalities was more than unoriginal, it was pathetic. The funny thing is that the "girls" are too
likable to sustain an hour. And the marriages add a certain finality to possible storylines.
I wonder how similar this show is to Lipstick Jungle. Darren Star reteamed with Candice Bushnell for Lipstick Jungle and then they had a huge falling out during the creative process, probably because she got royally fucked with the rights deal. If I remember that abysmal book, Lipstick Jungle, right- the characters were at least reprehensibly interesting. So I'll give that show at least one look before I pass on it. I can't believe they gave this the greenlight and shelved Football Wives. I love Lucy Liu, but girl needs to read a script before she agrees to a new project. This is the classic case of successful showrunner/executive producer goodwill gone amok. ABC/Disney creative executives probably crapped a load at the prospect of working with uber successful creator of 90210/Melrose Place/Sex and the City, Darren Star. And they figured that even though the show sucked people would watch because they had recognizable talent attached. |

This was complete shit. Bigs Shots the female version. Not awesome.

It was, of course, somewhat corny, and isn't exactly completely realistic, but IMO it's like a million times better than Grey's Anatomy AND
Desperate Housewives. Anyone agree?

It got mediocre ratings, only retaining 54% of its DH lead in audience. I expect it will tank when it moves to its new timeslot. Same with Lipstick Jungle.
Most of these new midseason shows are just placeholders anyway until the strike is resolved. |

I have yet to watch, but based on all these reviews....I was thinking I was gonna skip it. But based on what Angela (who I love) just said, I think I'm
gonna give it a chance.

thank you, Piranhahaha, for letting me rescue this thread! I might not be able to rescue the series, but what the hay.
Oh, how I wish I could change the thread title, though.... eta: it moves to its regular night tonight at 10 pm!

I was looking for a thread on this, but didn't care enough to start one.
I think Frances O'Connor (Zoe) is 7000 kinds of hot. That guy who was so cute in That Thing You Do looks like hell now. The plot, the writing, the outfits (holy 80's, Lucy), it was all pretty damn bad, BUT maybe it will get better in a few episodes. I actually tried to watch it again tonight because there was nothing else on, but couldn't sit through it a second time. Meh. |

So tonight (Tuesday) was a repeat of the first episode, right?
The website says that Wednesday is the regular night. Let's see how long this show will last. |

Yeah, I was wrong....I was thinking, briefly, it was Wed. nite. I suck.

I'm obsessed with Desperate Housewives. And I used to adore Sex & The
City. Cashmere Mafia, on the other hand, I'm not feelin' it.
I miss the Lucy Liu I fell in love with...the Lucy Liu I was introduced to in Ally McBeal. I miss that show. Why hasn't it been officially released in the U.S., dammit???? |

Just do what I did Surge: get a cheap regionless DVD player from Wal-Mart and order the DVDs from amazon.co.uk. I think I got the whole series for something
like 100-150$ back when I bought them.

Loved this episode, too.
Oh, and my Ally McBeal complete series DVD set hails from somewhere in Asia. Hong Kong or Japan...I forget which. And the reason it hasn't been released in the US is because they (so far) have refused to pay Vonda Shepard the royalty fees she's asking for her music. Other countries...don't have to pay. eta: if you try the Asia version, be sure you get "Region 1" or "NSTC" versions....I dunno, I don't understand. Mr. G. told me to tell you guys this.

I watched the first two episodes and unlike everyone here thought it was pretty good. Definitely better than Grey's Anatomy or Desparate Housewives.
And hey, 3 lesbian kisses in 2 episodes. Besides that, I like Lucy Liu. The show however is kinda femi-nazi though. |

Not everyone hated it, Seyz! I'm wid cha!
The light-hearted, kinda sassiness about it reminds me of that summer mini series of Debra Messinger. Don't recall it's name. This isn't Emmy awarding winning stuff, but it sure as shit beats nuthin' but repeats and Super Nanny, etc. |
