I'll be working, too. So I feel your pain. I will finish my thesis if it kills me...and it might just.
Christmas just isn't the same when spent with friends but not family (they are 1500 miles away).

My thesis is a convoluted one. LOL! Basically it is about identity in Indigenous/Aboriginal women in the area I live in and how relocating to urban areas to work in government and academic institutions plays a role in their overall view of who they are as Aboriginal women. As one of those I can relate to the struggle of being one person in my urban community and being another in my home community.

I actually enjoy the research because I have traveled far and wide to compile the data and discovered some that the challenges faced by Indigenous women here and abroad are almost identical in nature. How they play out is also very similar. Most of the women involved with me have abused (physically,etc) and ostracized for leaving and then trying to return. Especially if they have taken on government jobs. They are seen as traitors to their people.

I am doing the anthropology thing, so I have to take a particular approach to it. But my approach won me $27G to actually do the work.

I see a cushy government job in my near future. LOL!
