Plus that helps to decrease the possibility of having a final 3 where some of the jury members never met or barely knew the finalists.
the problem with the kidnapping is that they cannot do that anymore once they reach the merge.
Hey who knows, maybe they still keep the kidnapping and use the exile island when they reach the merge.
