Or are they bound by some ethical code? Cuz you know if you gave it away to someone else they have one less spot for a more deserving cat.

Why don't you just kill yourself?

And leave an annoying cat to roam the earth? Never. |

Just take it out back and shoot it

You could eat it. Then kill yourself.

Doesn't this happen daily in shelters? Maybe not by a real vet.

Space is limited. Funding is limited. And there are A LOT of stray and disowned dogs and cats. (Spay and neuter your pets, peepsies.) So it's pretty
routine for pets to be given a set amount of time before euthanized.

Yes, they sure do (for a fee or course) But you must fill out a form that the dog (cat) has not bit anyone lately. |

UC is right. Vets put down healthy animals every day because the shelters can't hold them all.
This is a problem with such an easy, easy and relatively cheap solution. If PETA would focus on just this one issue until it is resolved, I would give them 100% of my donation dollars. Hell, if they would just focus on three issues and actually FIX something I would give them 100% of my charitable donation budget. As it is they get nothing from me. $1,000 will spay/neuter 5 animals. |

So, you have an animal you no longer want and you just want to kill it rather than give it to a shelter? Or your parents or roommate do?

Sadly, by the end of next month all the shelters will be filled with animals that people thought would be a good idea to give as a Christmas gift.

My boyfriend's mom tried to get their healthy dog put to sleep but the vet refused and put it up for adoption instead.

I had a dog Put to sleep once after it killed my cat.
I could not take the chance that it would kill the others - so it had to go. the vet was not happy about my decision but he took my money and gave the dog the shot. |

So you were afraid that if the shelter found another home for the dog it would come back for the rest of your cats? |

It had proven itself a killer of other smaller domesticated pets, I took it upon myself to solve the problem. |
