When the music started, everything seemed to be recorded and towards the end when the music stop and they sang a capella for a line or two, they went back to regular singing?

I thought her two soloist were great, but that does not make a choir! The rest of the people were just back-up singers for those two...that is not a choir. But regardless, they were good, but add the lack of a group singing together to the overly religious themes from Patti all night...she lost votes on those two areas in my opinion! It was OBVIOUS to me that Bolton's choir is going home tonight. That one guy...great singer. The rest...blah. And that song?!?!? Really??? No good! I enjoyed Kelly's choir, but I just remember thinking that they were fun, don't remember the voices that well. I probably gave them more credit than they deserved. I was sure Blake would be the first to go, as I am a country fan and even I have not heard of him! But damn it if they didn't MILK the military angle...a lot! Plus they were not 1/2 bad! But I thought Nick's choir was the best. They were fun, they functioned together as a choir, and I thought they sounded really good overall! That host...yuck! She was not good! Spoiler [+] So a friend called me the other day and told me he is working on this show. According to him, Nick's choir is the best (though he had not heard them all when he told me this). Nick's group practiced "Flight of the Bumble Bee" which he said sounds strange, but is really cool to hear! And they also did a Garth Brook's song, but I don't remember which one. I'll see what else I can figure out.

Oh, the God thing didn't bother me at all...I am from the South...that was NOTHING compared to every day life here! LOL Heck, I worked at a Christian camp for 6 years and was a youth minister for a while too...not at all trying to knock her religion. I was just suprised at how much it was mentioned and I felt like it was really thrown at the viewer. Also, I have had quite a few of the "Happy Holiday" vs "Merry Christmas" talks recently, so guess I am just overly sensitive to that matter right now and leaving people out just because they are not Christian. Again, doesn't bother me, just kind of suprised me! As for her choir...again, I thought they sounded good, but really felt like they had 2 soloist and 18 back-up singers. To me, that is not a choir. While they sounded great, it was not really a group singing, but those two ladies singing and everyone else supporting them. They did that well, but just not really a choir to me and I felt bad for everyone else. Plus, that song is not that hard or impressive. They killed it, but didn't take a "risk", which underwhelmed me a little too.

But at least it wasn't as glee club as Kelly's and Nick's. Blake's choir was very meh (but the soldier sympathy vote will carry them through). Michael's choir was more of a soloist featuring a choir on a poor song selection. Guess I'm a little surprised that Michael Bolton of all people went for Bon Jovi.

I agree, but I just didn't feel like Blake/Bolton's choirs were back-up singers as much as I did Patti's. That being said, Bolton NEEDS to go home! That was not good and he is not that likeable! I do agree that Patti's was great, just saying I was not as impressed as everyone else was last night. I will be intrigued to see tonight though...could change everything! Spoiler [+] From my friend in LA: "I bet Blake Shelton's team does Boondocks tonight and Nick's does Garth Brook's Friends in Low Places". He is just guessing, but I would say it is a good guess. Also, for Wednesday's Christmas themed night, the opening number will probably be a "Joy to the World medly with the traditional Christmas song and Joy to the World (the Three Dog Night version... Jeremiah was a bullfrog etc.)"
