Erik should get an honorable mention, for voting James instead of Todd.

Ian is on my list for his pole jumping nonsense. He's just not in my top 5 ...I have him at #12
actually.

Twelve? Wow, its really hard IMHO to find something other than Colby's move that happened at such a big important moment and had such a profound impact on the player's spot in the game. As dumb as things like Rob voting out Christy (which was much, much more Christy's fault IMHO, Rob would have been fine had Jenna simply not won immunity at F4) or Lex's maniacal wheelings and dealings in ASS were, Ian was right there on the threshold, just had to hold on the pole a little longer and would have easily won. Tom would have forgave him eventually, and who cares what a 700 pound elephant thnks about you? |

Ian could've theoretically won, so if you think about it, he gave up more than Colby did. There was nothing "theoretical" about what Colby gave up--$900,000 (and the fame of being only the sceond "Sole Survivor" ever, of the highest-rated season ever). Ian MIGHT have won (I sorta doubt it--we don't even know if he would have won that challenge), but Colby WOULD have won. |

Tom said he only had a few more minutes left in him to stand on the buoy. Ian probably would've gotten the stupidest moment ever for bringing Tom to the
finals, but not even getting second place is still stupid.

The thing about Ian is that he put his game to an end, a complete, 100%, total end, and he did it more stupidly than pretty much anyone. Colby was a moron for
not taking the assured goat and the $900 thousand that came with it, but going up against Tina wasn't automatic suicide. Sure, he would have been the first
unanimous winner by taking Keith, but he still had a chance against Tina. In my mind, Colby wins for worst judgement call, but Ian wins for stupidest way to
end your own game--if this makes sense to people.

Paraphrasing Ian: "I will give up in this immunity challenge if you promise to eliminate me."
There is no dumber move in the history of this game, and possibly ANY game. |

In my opinion, a dumb move in this game involves an ignorance in regards to the move's consequences. If a player does something and does not realize that
doing that will hurt their position in the game, it was a stupid move. But when a player is fully aware that doing something hurts their game, and does it
anyway for other reasons, to me, that's not really a dumb game move, it's a move with motivations that go beyond the scope of the game. Colby or
Ian's final decision may have cost them the game, but they made their respective moves knowing full well that it would cost them. Emotional? Absolutely.
Unstrategic? Of course. And I would never do it myself. But that doesn't mean it was a dumb move, per se. Now, if Colby thought he had a better chance of
winning against Tina or Ian thought Tom would still take him to the Final 2 or something, those would be truly stupid moves, worthy of inclusion on this list.
But as it stands, they really shouldn't be anything more than honorable mentions, because neither Colby nor Ian thought their move would help their games,
and they were just as aware of the consequences of their decisions as anyone who made a smart game move.

These lists tend to favor obvious actions, like Ian or Colby or James' non-use of the idol. But I think season-long dumbness should also be addressed, like
Katie surrounding herself with people who she could never beat. Likewise with Becky. Don't even get me started on Becky.

Good news. I'm alive! I'm going to be adding these things to the list........
Jaime mistakenly believes that a blank piece of wood is an immunity idol and attempts to use it at tribal council. James doesn't use either of his immunity idols. Amanda doesn't arrange a tie vote between Todd and Denise at Final 4. (I think she would have been better off no matter who won the tiebreaker.) What else? |

denise not forcing a tie, and voting out eric? she probably wouldn't have won but at least would have been in the final 3. which would have given her a
better chance at winning then coming in 4th.

I don't agree with the Jaime one, it seems more like hate. She said herself she knew that the idol was fake, the editors played up the stupid role, and she
played it because there was nothing to lose. Doesn't seem so stupid to me.

But Colby's move... | ||
|
Was tied up in S2 being so insanely huge, with media careers for everybody, and Burnett wanting a female winner for the franchise he was starting, and also
Colby's thought of going against the best...even if I don't win, the first season Survivors are making movies and shit, so whatever.
I will go to my grave saying that Colby's decision was contingent on Probst and Burnett helping him start an acting career. |
