BTW, Same Difference were surprisingly much better than I thought they would be. Props to them and Cowell.

I havent' seen the Leon clips yet but I am ROYALLY PISSED. Damn. Rhydian owned every week he was here, but I guess Leon had the momentum, Scot's.. oh
yeah and Kylie. Stupid fucking duets. Of course I'll watch next year but I am really unhappy with these results. Ah well I still loved this season though.
Amazing talent overall.

I thought Rhydian would win, but I think the obviousness of his winning may have hurt him. He became so safe, so boring, because of all the assumptions all he
had to do was coast. A lovely voice is not enough when there is such dreariness behind the presentation. Meanwhile, Leon was supposed to have no chance, he was
the poor boy who needed to win. Leon lucked out in his duet partner. I heard his last performance was good, but I don't know, I haven't watched it yet.
I got so tired of reading about how Same Difference were so unworthy compared to Rhydian, I can't be all that upset that he lost just like they did. I'm sure he'll have a wonderful career, and with all his love of camp that he buried earlier this season, maybe he can tour with Will Young (is he still around? I hope so). I hope this isn't the last people will see of Same Difference, specifically Sean Difference. They were spat on this season, week after week, and emerged stronger and more entertaining than ever. Most likely, Leon will end up having as much or less success as the guy who was runner up last season, or the runner up of the first Pop Idol. Gareth Gates? |

Gareth Gates?I couldn't name the runner up from last season - but that just shows how much success I think Leon will have. Gareth on the other way was doing great for a bit - all went downhill on his second album (which was fantastic BTW) Will Young (is he still around? I hope so).Oui, He did some Stage Work. He'll be back. And bigger than ever. Mark my words. He's also dumped his boyfriend. Yummy. Will Young. The Studio Version of Leon's single has obviously leaked. Sounds like he has a good voice. I never heard any of his preformences. Judging by this SURPRISE win. I would like to think that this may be the first time an X-Factor Winner won't get the Number 1 Spot for Christmas.. but I highly doubt that will happen. If Westlife can survive as long as they have. Leon will be #1 for Christmas.

I would have bet a kidney that Rhydian or Niki, hell even Same Difference would win from the final 4. Then the one Random Randy who I have watched once all
season long and wrote him off as an early boot wins. Fucking crazy, and I love the madness of it all.
We have had some pretty dull winners all around. Brian (CI), Jordin (A1), Leon (XF), and Jody (South Africa Idol). The only redeeming winner is Natalie. |

Oui, He did some Stage Work. He'll be back. And bigger than ever. Mark my words. Now you've reminded me of that video where he was in a Speedo. The last time I saw him was that Judi Dench movie where everyone took their clothes off (except Judi Dench). He looked pretty good. Usually a nonthreatening person will win one of these shows. There were so many other factors, like Scottish pride. Rhydian is Welsh, but there was a Welsh man in the final three of Strictly Come Dancing, so the Welsh bloc may have divvied up voting between them. Then there were all the votes for Kylie, because she has such loyal fans. Then there is the lower vote totals this season because of voting scandals on another reality show. Rhydian may have won with the casual vote, but there is no longer a big casual vote. As soon as I heard he was getting Kylie, I thought, "Do they want him to win?" The real winner of this season is Dannii Minogue, even if she didn't manage a hit single. Sharon and Louis made her into the martyr of the year with their awful behavior. I believe one of the reasons Niki left before the final was because she was Louis' protege and she made the mistake of publicly agreeing with some of his anti-Dannii comments. That set off some big backlash. Dannii should co-host something with Shilpa Shetty, who also worked the martyr role to great success.

I was thinknig about it, and honestly I can't think of any show anywhere that has consistanly worse winners than The X-Factor. Can anyone think of any?
I realize people loved Leona. But the other 3 seasons, everyone would admit, were complete disasters in the results department. |

Was Shayne Ward all that bad?

No way
First off on Shayne, as far as a boy band reject type maybe he wasn't terrible. But compare to who he was up against he by no means deserved to win. He was up against a guy who could sing circles around anyone and was just a genuinelly great guy. On to TAR and Big Brother, Big Brother we can rule out immediately, you had Dr. Will, Dick, some people like Jun. So that's out TAR might be close, but you had the Hippies, Chip and Kim, for villains Zach and Flo. I don't think either compares in the slightest to the complete joke that is The X-Factor |

I don't even follow this show but even I know that Same Difference deserved to win.
I shat my pants when the radio announced this afternoon that Leon had won. For some reason, Commonwealthers love come-from-behind wins (see: OzIdol5's Natalie, CI5's Blah-ian) |

Flo was a shrieking mess more than a villain. I'm not going to comment on the hippies. I don't know enough about the X-Factor winners to put up a spirited defense of them. I'm just so scarred by years of bad BB and particularly TAR winners. This season of X-Factor seemed to be such a trainwreck, they probably deserved that type of winner. Some shows that have good seasons and yet have bad winners bother me more. I still wish Same Difference had won, of course. I'm amazed at the people who pay money to vote for a reality show. The only American reality show that tried that was BB1, with very, very limited success. |

Craig (No), Brian (Yes), Kate (Somewhat), Cameron (No), Nadia (Yes), Anthony (No), Pete (No), Brian (No). Marty (No), Regina (Yes), Trevor (No), The Logans (No), Mr. Cock (No), Aleshia (Marginally, No) We did get Leona from X-Factor. She has no Personality. But a Great Voice. Bleeding Love was good for a few listens.. But I wouldn't dare wasting my time listening to her Album, not after what I've heard about it. |

I avoided this thread the whole day so that I wouldn't be spoiled about the winner. Now that I've finished watching it, I have to say it wasn't
worth it.
WTF?! Honestly! Who the fuck voted for Leon? How did he get to the final in the first place? How did he win over Same Difference and Rhydian? How?! As for the performances, the most entertaining one hands down was SD's All I want for Christmas. I started laughing my ass off when they started flying, and then came the glitter. And that guy that carried Sarah on his shoulders was smiling a little too broadly... Hey, I would have been grinning too! And poor Jason Donovan. I haven't seen him since his younger days and he looks so different now, middle-aged and receding hairline and all.

X Factor voting complaints soar
The 24-year-old Welsh favourite was beaten to the title in Saturday's ITV live show by Scotland's Leon Jackson. But as the complaints shot up, ITV revealed Leon won by 10% of the vote and called it "fair and square". Leon's mother also claimed many of her son's supporters were also foiled in their attempt to phone in to back him. There had been 80 complaints on Monday, but the number shot up above 1,500 by Tuesday. Some of those said they tried to vote dozens of times but could not get through. Before Saturday's final, Rhydian was clear favourite, but he was pipped at the post and to a £1m recording contract by Scottish crooner Leon, who sang a duet with Kylie Minogue on the live show.
A stream of Rhydian supporters contacted the BBC to complain that they could not get through and some radio stations in Wales said they would boycott Leon's single and demand a recount. Welsh First Minister Rhodri Morgan revealed he was among those who tried to call in "as a loyal Welsh person" but failed to get through. But ITV said while many Rhydian fans were disappointed, "the simple fact is that Leon won the X Factor fair and square". The broadcaster said Leon "performed strongly across the series and was the outright winner on the night by a full 10% of the vote," although there was just 1% between the finalists before they sang their versions of the new single When You Believe. ITV said it never normally revealed results but it wanted to clarify Leon's winning margin "to reassure viewers on this occasion." 'Closer scrutiny' Leon told the BBC he felt he would be under closer scrutiny now: "I went and gave my best performance. You never know how the public is voting and that aspect of things is out of your hands," he said. "I just feel it's extra pressure now because I'll be under a lot of scrutiny and there's extra pressure for me to do well and produce really good stuff. I just want to give the public back something because they are the ones who put me in this position." Supporters of Leon also claimed they had been unable to vote for him. Leon's mother Wendy Jackson told Glasgow-based Real Radio lots of people texted her to say they could not get through. "I even had one person tell me they had tried 300 times to get through to Leon on the landline and they couldn't get through - so it's not just the Welsh folk that the lines were jammed, the Scottish ones were as well." X Factor production company Talkback Thames blamed the engaged tone met by some viewers on the volume of calls. Some Virgin Media customers had problems, but that company said it had not found anything unusual so far.
Nigel Roberts told BBC Radio Wales Rhydian was due to sign a recording deal this week and hoped to do a tour. |

some thing funny I saw:
Former X Factor winner signs to 50 dinersBy Matt Roper 17/12/2007As Leon landed the £1million recording contract, a former winner was singing to 50 diners in a pizza restaurant. Steve Brookstein was the first winner of X Factor in 2004 but was dumped by Simon Cowell eight months after getting the Christmas No1 with Against All Odds. Steve, 39, told diners at the restaurant in Maidstone, Kent: "I'm surprised so many of you are here to see me on the night of the X Factor finals." As he began with a gravelly rendition of Commodores song Nightshift, a waitress shouted: "Salsicha al forno anyone?" But Steve, who performed on the P&O Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry in June, wasn't taking himself too seriously. He said: "I don't know how many of you have got my new album. It's not widely available - in fact, I couldn't find it anywhere. I think Sharon Osbourne's been going around Tesco taking it off the shelves. Steve's set was littered with digs at X Factor judges Cowell and Sharon. By the time the desserts were being served, a flurry of text messages told diners Leon had won this year's competition. Steve added: "I'm sure he's a nice guy but there are so many talented people out there who don't get a chance." http://www.mirror.co.uk/showbiz/frontpageshowbiz/2007/12/17/former-x-factor-winner-signs-to-50-diners-89520-20258223/ |
