Remember when Tyra's writers went on strike?

As for the blacklisted guy, it's a shame these writers aren't making enough money that they'd risk their careers to get more. Poor guy.

Writers actually WRITE for Tyra.. that is frightening. I actually thought that she is that stupid so either A. They are outstanding to write that shit and
make it sound that idiotic or B. They need to be shot.
UNIONS... if you have ever been FORCED to join one you would hate them as much as I do. They do FUCK ALL nothing that an educated articulate person can do on their own. And I thought writers were that? |

I don't know if Tyra ever hired her writers back. She had such a good time acting crazy she may have decided she didn't need them after all. However, while she was having fun - we were groaning and wincing. But it did give The Soup something to talk about. |

Looks like that rumor that the strike would be over by Christmas was false. Now Variety is saying that the strike may not be resolved until March at the
earliest.
I'm just so glad that The Wire filmed its final season before the shit hit the fan. American Gladiators, here we come. |

Well now we have the package deal... no writers necessary. NBC just signed an agreement with the producers behind Ice Truckers, Deadliest Catch, etc to produce
blocks of programs for the network. They are cheap, non writers and actually highly rated on their respective networks.
We are already seeing some 10 episode shit coming with this new game show and expect more of the same. Ironically the deal maker behind this Loyd Braun former ABC exec who got Lost to air.. well looks like docu-drama is happening and there you go... which over reality with hands on magazine cover has to be improvement.. christ I can't take another dating show. |

I saw a segment on The Early Show about a new dating show - something like "Who Wants to Marry an Immigrant". I kid you not. The men look
like mexican gardeners and Russian X dealers.
And the strike won't be over until Summer. Just as soon as the writers settle this, the actors and directors will go on strike. I say let them. Maybe we'll remember who they are when they go back to work. |

so Carson Daly goes back to work and saves 70 crew members jobs; know he's a jerk but, a very brave thing to do and watch for the bigger shows to follow.

Brave? | ||

^^^Brave would've been paying for the crew member salaries out of his own pocket like all the other talk show hosts that aren't crossing the picket
line.

I wouldn't consider paying an entire staff...brave. More like grandstanding. I don't understand why they should be expected to pay the salaries
when the networks don't. It's NICE but no one should be expected to be paid for doing nothing. The staff is not working, they shouldn't get paid.
They should be protesting the writers and pressuring them to setttle and get back to work.

They should be protesting the writers and pressuring them to setttle and get back to work.Or they should be protesting with the writers and pressuring the studios to settle. |

Apparently there were only 4 WGA members on his staff. Why cripple an entire show when they can easily be replaced and / or their 'work' can be eliminated?Writers are who make Carson seem like less of douche. You don't think the grip makes him personable? |
|||
Yuelulu |

I'm just saying that he is not a member of the WGA. His 75 staff members are not members. He has four writers who are striking. Maybe the WGA
should be paying the lost wages to the staff, in appreciation of their support. Because if the WGA prevails, what do the rest of the staff get? They get to
go back to what they were doing before. I suppose the staffers could try to unionize and then fight for the same slice of pie as the WGA.

So has the non-written Carson Daly show been airing yet? Any reports?
I dunno, whether you give that plastic corpse written lines or not, he's still unwatchable. |

Someone please notify NBC that I will write episodes of Heroes for a mere $100 each AND mine will be better than Volume II!
Thanks! |

Tyra's "writers" were editors trying to get a bigger cut.

Dude gets fucked for the rest of his life. For the rest of his life. Let's not be overly-dramatic here. He's out of the industry, which sucks if it's his passion, but not necessarily fucked over for the rest of his life. There are lots of other writing jobs out there, many of which have nothing to do with television/hollywood. |

if the strike means big brother every season BRING IT ON

I was excited by the first season of Big Brother since I would get to observe people live. The first season was a lot of chit chat, singing and a houseguest
who dyed her hair green. Actually, nothing exciting went on in the house: the houseguests were just ordinary people. Later seasons of Big Brother had
attractive people who got into bed together. Listening to the houseguests pillow talk is not fascinating.
I enjoy the Amazing Race and Don't Forget the Lyrics. |
