Nor do I think the the voice mail message she left "accidental." She was probably outside the apartment when she called and saw that Deb was in there with him. She's a nasty one.

I guess Dex is going to realize that the boyfriend that Lila says "deserved" to burn in a fire might not have deserved his comeuppance after all.

Finished the third book. I'll be honest, i didn't like it that much. Glad the tv series has diverged from the book series.

how is the show so different from the books? Just wondering...

Yeah, 3rd book ain't that great.
To me the main diff between the show and the books is the peripheral characters. The books are first-person narrative and all about Dexter and his experiences and interactions with these people. They don't focus as much on the many subplots for the peripheral characters that the show does. Plus Dexter in the books is a more of a straight up cold, emotionless psycho. For all those wishing he would kill Deb, he came damn close in the first book. |

I think another key difference is that in the book Dexter refers to the part of him that wants to kill as the "dark passenger" and he treats this
dark passenger as a separate entity that resides within (not like a demon possession, as it would seem that without Dexter, the "dark passenger"
would kill at will and Dexter sticks to Harry's code).
Other differences: |

I liked the killer Dex chased in the second novel. I think he was Dr Danko or some shit like that. That guy knew how to mutilate his friends. But if
Showtime keeps up this peripheral character soap opera this show is heading to mediocrity soon.

She is so dead. Hot sex or not. Dexter has priorities and if she messes with him...buh-bye. One thing that is true in both the books and the TV show is Dexter's protective nature with respect to Rita's kids. If that skank Lila threatens them in any way, the bitch is done. Know that. you "readers". you're no fun... |

why didn't dexter invest in a safe of some kind, instead of hiding them slides in an air conditioner? you know, something you can't see with a
"red" light on a break in. seriously, if i was going through someone's place i'd just turn the lights on. it seems so much more
inconspicuous than that outside shot of that red light darting about the apartment. but dokes is a pro so i defer.
and my lilah hot sex comments were limited to lilah hot sex. not to calling dexter's moms killer to turn him in. or to breaking into rita's place (after setting fire to her place, which i could understand because, albert's been around, you know?) albert does allow "little abert" to do his thinking too much when dealing with female characters on shows, but lilah did go over the line tonight. i loved this ep. fuck dexter "getting better." i want my dexter to be dexter. and that came back tonight... |

man, the preview for next week looks great. Seems too obvious that Dexter will accuse Doakes for "planting" the box of slides in his AC, but I'm
not sure of any other way he can get out of this new mess.

Something tells me Doakes is going to get the wrap for the bay harbour butcher killings. That would suck. He's the man, he figured it out, daaaamn. |

This season must be pretty predictable, because I've called Dexter having to kill Lila and Doakes being set up as the bay harbour butcher. Nonetheless,
I'm enjoying it.
When they look at those slides, they're only going to have Doakes' fingerprints on them. You silly, silly man. Giving up a job that pays 6 figures for a vendetta against Dexter. You is crazy. |

When LaGuerta and Doakes were talking and he suggested he might not come back and she asked him what he would do and he said his father was a butcher, I felt
certain then that Dexter will set Doakes up as the Bay Harbor Butcher. I had been thinking maybe Masuka since they've been making him so weird this season.
But I'm going with Doakes now. And I definitely see a showdown coming with Lila. It's a shame she doesn't have a code like Dexter does, or
they'd probably be good for each other. I could see them working together.
I have realized that the only character I actually like is Batista. |

I didn't see the previews so I don't know what is going to happen. But what if Doakes doesn't turn Dexter in. What if he approves of what Dexter is
doing. He is kind of an eye for an eye kind of guy.
Plus it would seem almost impossible that Doakes wouldn't have an alibi for at least one of the killings. Alibi one, wouldn't that get you off of all of them? |

why didn't dexter invest in a safe of some kind, instead of hiding them slides in an air conditioner?Hiding in plain sight. Having a safe means you have something to hide, and is usually a red flag and the first place a cop would look. Another difference regarding the book versus the series |

Dexter doesn't need to set up Doakes - Doakes is doing it all on his own. They won't be able to account for Doakes' whereabouts when Dexter was
killing Jimenez - yet Dexter was in contact with Rita so that makes Doakes look worse.
In addition - the way he walked out on Lundy's questioning, not showing up for the dinner with LaGuerta, putting his fingerprints all over the evidence in Dexter's apartment, his father was a butcher, acting crazy in general. I think Lundy will eventually know it is Dexter, but since the show would be over if Dex got caught - he'll die somehow. Not by Dexter's hand though - because that would be against his code. And is there anything more annoying than a whining and crying British woman? I thought I had somehow been diverted to an Entertainment show and Heather Mills was whining about Paul McCartney and the press being so mean to her. |
