You're lucky if you can find a townhouse below $500,000 in a safe area. Granted, prices went down recently after the market crashed, but all the housing prices are still outrageous. So at 22, it's pretty damn hard to make it on your own unless you feel like living in a neighborhood where you'll get shot. I'm taking Vincent side 100% entirely based on one thing Dick said--"you're crying just to get my attention." That is the biggest sign for bad parenting. Even if a child WAS crying just to get their dad's attention---and I highly doubt that since Vincent is 22---there would still be a REASON behind that need for attention, a problem or an issue that a good parent would be concerned about. Dick, however, doesn't care at all about this. He just writes Vincent's problems and issues and emotions off as him "trying to make me feel bad" or "trying to get my attention," as if the father-son relationship were based on manipulation. He seems like a nice boy, that's why I've never bashed him at all. Dick has mental problems and he takes out all his frustration on younger weaker individuals.
