I've always thought this show has been strong on concept and somewhat weak on writing. It's like they wrote an amazing synopsis for the storylines and how they interweave with each other but when it comes down to the actual script for each episode, they handle the drama and dialogue in a workmanlike way. There have been one or two bright spots. The Company Man episode was by far the best they've had. But mostly it's been the kind of stuff we've been seeing this season.

The Clair and West story has been awkward and unpleasant, like they're forcing Clair to do things you would think she had more sense than to do. The twins have been a little repetitive. The Kenzei story dragged on for far too long. It's like they needed Hiro to come back at a certain point in the story and stuck him in Japan far longer than required, making the pacing incredibly slow and painful. Nikki's story was not even told properly. She got a few scenes spread out across seven episodes and we're supposed to interpolate what she's been going through. And now she's infected and possibly going to die. If she does die, her character would have been ill-served by the story.

I find that especially in this season, they have such a huge cast but spread the attention around so much, each character's arc doesn't get the time to develop properly. They hit the character plot points to show this or that happening and then quickly move on.

This is just general things I've thought could be improved. I still like the show and there have been good scenes like Sylar talking to Alejandro, Matt dealing with his father in the room, Bennett being a badass, the awkward Bennett dinner table scene. I wish they could keep the standard up and consistant.
