Pretty cool article on Survivor in the LA Times here.

I think it would be amazing if it lasted to Survivor 20. Thankfully we have a great season going on right now. I hope there will be some more like this one.

Yeah it's like with anything - they'll have their great seasons and they'll have their slower ones...I'll watch until the show's dead and
buried...
Jeff was talking about the fact that they'd probably stick to 16 people for a while too...easier with filming and voting and such...so the prospect that it'll go on beyond All Stars 2 is very good...I'm glad to see it...16 seasons just wasn't gonna cut it for me...lol |

Great article. I'm sure Survivor will be around for a while longer. Hmmm, in 10 years time... we'll see. Of course I hope so.
Also I never understood why people believed that 's16 is the last season' rumor. It went against all logic considering the ratings Survivor's still getting vs Amazing Race, Big Brother etc which all still continue to get renewed despite lower ratings. |

The S16 rumor (that it is the last season) is around because it is the last season that Probst is in contract for...

He'll resign for 17 and 18. No doubt about it in my book.

They really should try 3 tribes of 6 again someday, as you can do some fun things with it you can't in a traditional season.
Starting tribes off with an even number of players is really important. 20 is a better number than 18 if they inflate a 2-tribe cast because of the way voting patterns break down. |

The great thing about Survivor is that it can always reinvent itself. Just watching people interact with eachother in an exotic setting is always interesting

FB,
I saw an interview with Jeff Probst and John Henson (TVGuide Channel Interviewer) on the TVGuide Channel the other day and John brought up that his contract ends after S16. He asked him if he would sign another contract and Jeff said the following: that he will never have another job like this again, this is the best job in the world and that if a deal is on the table (new contract) he will take it. Now if this writer's strike last for a long time, I can see CBS giving Jeff more money and renewing his contract. In addition, a writer's strike could renew Survivor for another year or so and could increase the ratings if no new episodes of other shows are on to watch. Survivor is actually in one of the best positions of any show on CBS. Survivor is also in the top 20 (#12 - #15) each week. Why would they cancel it and why would they get rid of Jeff Probst? No one will ever be able to host the show and continue on successfully like he has. ETA: Good article. |

That made me happy.
I know we all bitch and complain but I guess as far as super-fans go, we have it good. Even Survivor's worst seasons are better than most of what's on television today. |

I guess the ratings do put things in perspective. Was getting real worried that S16 would be the last season.
And agreeance with Jiffy. Fiji left A LOT of people feeling empty. -_- |

Fiji was indeed a crappy season, but why does it always get shat on while Cook Islands, which was even shittier, gets away with it?

Because the Cook Islands cast was literally COLORFUL?
But I half-agree. I personally think Fiji was an okay season. Not good. Not bad. But definitely better than crapfest that was Cook Islands. |

Because the pre-merge was too long and boring as fuck. The Dreamz thing was an awful way to end the season, and the location was "Fiji" but really
"muddy dirt pit from hell" Not one of their best locations visually.
Cook Islands sucked, but had a better ending and was more interesting pre-merge. (barely) |

I thought last year was pretty awful...both seasons were so obvious of who was going to win. Cook Islands at least had a decent first two episodes but both I
think now after being off so much will probably rank the lowest for me...a few bright spots with Jonathan and...well a few good moments in Fiji.
