It's been a while since I've waited as eagerly for a survivor episode as I do tonight's episode. This season has been gold!

Re: Todd's S3
I have never thought the "strategy" guidelines were as hard-and-fast as the other Edgic rating ones--particulalry since the Strategy chart is assigned by ONE player, not group consensus. (I do definitely agree that Todd had a S3+ last week, but often there is quite a bit of dispute about the Strategy ratings--why not start voting on those as well if we're going to count them as deal-breakers?) Even if this has been a general rule in the past, I don't see how, given the turn of events last week, it could possibly NOT be shown. Nobody has ever given away an HII before except when TC loomed. Todd gave it away to someone on the other tribe and almost as soon as he got it! Then he told him the location of yet another one! That is a HUGE "first" on this show, a very exciting moment. Whatever happens as a result, it gets everyone's attention. Whatever James does with the idol(s), nobody would ever comprehend how he ended up with one, let alone two Idols without being shown the chain of events, and WHY Todd chose to do this. I think this will turn out to have been the single most game-changing act of the season, and I cannot imagine how the editors could have left this on the cutting-room floor under any circumstances. In fact, it may explain why there's been so much "Todd is strategizing now" up to this point; to develop him as an analytical thinker so it was in character for him to do something so risky (that, as it turned out, may backfire in a severe way). |

Leaving us with:
Amanda, Courtney, Jaime, Jean-Robert, Peih-Gee As our Possible Winners --- Jean Robert is too negative in strategy. He's out. Jaime's edit is definitely not that of a winner. So, winners; Amanda Courtney Peih-Gee Courtney's edit isn't very good, but I guess isn't QUITE eliminated.. We're pretty much back to where we started. PEIH-GEE or AMANDA. |

It's been a while since I've been this excited about an episode ... I might even sneak into a dorm lobby to watch it instead of waiting to download it
a day or two later. A testament to this season!
I'm also surprised I'm now touting the one person I came into this thinking, "if I know anything it's that Peih-Gee is such an obvious early boot." |

This is the ep when Denise or Frosti's story takes off. Lol.

You know what I like? That we really have no idea who's going to win. There's good cases -the one I think that might be the strongest believe it or
not, is flf's picking up on Amanda's placement in the ceremony line. And the joke about Denise and Frosti being undeveloped compared to the others is
funny, BUT what I love is despite thier early ignored episodes, they're still more developed than a lot in previous seasons. We know everyone this season.
I have no idea who's going tonight -it could easily be Todd!!! But I'm going to say Jamie (or even PG -gasp!) goes tonight. *And I'm still calling Courtney as winning or being runnerup -and getting Jean Robert's vote or sitting next to him facing the jury. |

The idol was not important for Yul until at least the merge. His story up to that time was winning challenges and then being part of the Aitu 4. No need for complexity. Todd has had some heavy airtime, but his story has also been much more heavily involved because of the dynamics of his team and because of the switch. The HII came into play as a story point much earlier this season. This season feels more plot-driven in editing than most of the other seasons. What I wonder about with Amanda is, if she is not in tonight's episode, will people spin that as great for her winner chances, and if she has a big presence in the episode, will people spin that as great for her winner chances? With her edit, the expectations are so low, anything and everything can be spun into a winning moment. |

and motives. That's why she jumped out of the screen, for me. She's not spared all the negativity, though most is deflected. Neither is she made to
be heroic for eliminating the leader of the other tribe (and a tribe that was dominating them). But a lot of attention is paid to understanding just what she
did and why she did it, and to buttress the logic of it.

Supposing for a moment that PG doesn't win, why not allow her to look worse than she did?Same reason they didn't allow Ozzy to look worse than he did in his throwing episode. PG goes far but does not win. |

They usually don't like to present silent leaders on Survivor. If Todd takes the hits, the edit is probably more about how he loses than anything Amanda ever does. Their chance for establishing her as a silent leader came earlier this season. I was most fascinated by all the shots of PG during TC, when her alliance mates (Jaime and particularly Frosti and Erik) were barely given any reaction shots. Jaime was the person voted out, and even she got less than PG. |

Good episode, next week looks better though :) I'll rate after Warrior gets his chart up.

I think I worded it wrong. I meant more like a RobM/Amber relationship. Someone takes the hits while the other sits pretty and talks about the game in confessionals. |

An Amanda or PG win would be so boring, IMO. The average viewer wouldn't be able to connect to their win, and probably find it as boring as I do. For
future editing, I honestly think that the winner should be editted with more entertainment, which is why I continue to root for a Todd/James/JR win.

I hope crow tastes good. I think Todd took a nose dive tonight. And PG had a great episode-- why was she so present in an episode where she was barely even a
decoy boot? I haven't been voting recently (I don't have time to watch more than once right now, if that), but if I did I'd be casting my vote this
week for PG. At this point, the only thing she doesn't have is the complex tribe surrounding her, which it is now.

I think I worded it wrong. I meant more like a RobM/Amber relationship. Someone takes the hits while the other sits pretty and talks about the game in confessionals.I can see that. I do think they showed some of Amber's reasons for winning beyond her simply being a lesser evil than Rob (even pre-merge and in the merge episode), but Amanda is still so much more of an unknown presence. Still, I can see what you mean. I do think that the previews they have with Todd are so overblown (JR threatening him, and then next week Amanda and Courtney huffing and puffing because he considers voting out James) that they are almost too obvious. Then again I shouldn't accuse Survivor of subtlety. nikkidj, I think they show PG because she is the fighter and the underdog for her alliance. She spices things up. I can see their point. PG isn't boring, but aside from Todd and Courtney, the rest aren't exactly riveting television. |

I agree. I think the cast as a whole is entertaining, so I'm more AGAINST those three that you're rooting for, because they ANNOY me.
